reswati
OK, I am actually going to risk replying to this thread, eventhough it officially resembles a battle field at this point (just like the "Random Thoughts" thread ). I agree with the person who mentioned Kylie Minogue and Meatloaf. I also agree with the people who mentioned Axl Rose and Gene Simmons. I am neutral to the whole "I dislike Bono" agrument. I am not prepared to comment on that because I am not at all sure why people find the man so annoying. Oh and I was reading a very similar discussion on amazon.com. Apart from Axl Rose, Gene Simmons and Bono topping the list of "The Most Annoying Rock Stars", people also seemed to gladly add the likes of Roger Waters to their list. Hmmm...interesting. Mmmmm, Kylie is my favorite gay icon, together with Alison Goldfrapp. Shall we now also make each others life miserable? Nahhhhhh. Big virtual hug to you. Yeah, I cant stand Meat Loafs mini-opera's too.
dazedcat
( Who Dat, Who Dat..Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints....Who Dat, Who Dat ) Who dat? The Packers, dat's who dat. Probably by double digits too come January.
Rock Historian
Who dat? The Packers, dat's who dat. Probably by double digits too come January. I hear ya. I actually like the Packers, they are playing great this year even though they are due for a loss. They may go undefeated, but the playoffs are what will count. I believe they will have some pressure on them if they retain a perfect record going in. And the Who Dat is a shout out to my New Orleans native girl, so Who Dat! It's all about N'awlins. Get back with me as the season progesses if you like talking football. Im not a die-hard over the top Saints fan, but I pull for em' every week. We have the best fans in the nation here, very passionate people and the Saints run much deeper than football. You'd have to live here to understand. dazedcat
Yeah I know about the Who dat, my wife lived in New Orleans for a year or so before I met her. They tell me the Saints mean everything to folks down there. After the flood, even more maybe? Pertinent to this thread, I don't dislike any rock stars. A lot of them are overrated or outright lame, but I don't dislike anyone really.

slave to zep
Whoa there, steady on fella! How do you know she's British? She's probably Australian. Anyway, if she is British, that's a fairly broad label. She could be Scottish. That would make sense. hey! i'm aussie, and i have manners! and i think knebby does too! Knebby
Please accept my apologies, slave. I'm sure you'd never call a fellow board member a tosser just for disagreeing with you. And that's not what I did, either, as anyone can see. But since you're another banned member with an agenda, it's been interesting to watch how you try to stirr things up. Knebby
Happy to move on and put it behind us Led Tiki - clean slate and all that - and for the sake of all those who have read this back and forth, sorry for (no doubt) boring you. Normal service will hopefuly resume. Why did you choose your name Led Tiki?
Knebby
Well you're wrong there, I'm afraid. But I suppose I should feel honoured that I've been uber-trolled by a legend like you. Your reputation preceeds you, you see. I learned all about you over at The Hotel, and your behaviour in this thread has confirmed 100% everything that was said about you and your MO. That's nice
Knebby
That makes sense now, and at least I can picture that when I see your name around here. I wonder if there are any rock stars we both dislike, to put the thread back on track. How do you feel about the Gallagher brothers?

Kiwi_Zep_Fan87
hi kiwi Hi Julie! I reviewed the entire thread another time (I felt a bit exhausted mentally after doing so! ) and I realised that you were the one who mentioned Kylie Minogue and Meatloaf! Whoops! FireOpal
Mmmmm, Kylie is my favorite gay icon, together with Alison Goldfrapp.Yeah, I cant stand Meat Loafs mini-opera's too. So is the question whose music is annoying, or which rock stars are annoying as people? I don't care for Kylie's music but she's an adorable woman and seems nice. Ditto Meatloaf -- interesting man but his music is a bit much (well that's the point). I knew I had more hate in me: also can't stand the Red Hot Chili Peppers - they used to be fun but then they took on this thuggish/date rape vibe, as many have observed. EDIT: sorry, I hadn't read MajorMajor's post upstream to see the same question was asked. Knebby: Doesn't Noel Gallagher look way better (or at least less simian) now that he's had his eyebrows trimmed back? My gawd, I wanted to take a weed whacker to those boys for years. TheStairwayRemainsTheSame
No, I meant I bet Robert and Jimmy don't like U2's recent stuff. But I agree with the Robert bit that you agreed with. Oh good
slave to zep
i suppose i hate kylie because she : can't sing that well, doesn't ( or didn't originally ) write, can't play an instrument ..... yeah, i know there are many others like that, but it just shits me that she rose to the top because she was in a bloody ( awful ) tv show, and there are many, many more talented singers down here. i also hate the way that almost everytime she does a video she is half naked and carrying on with those porno poses. i absolutly agree that she is stunnning to look at, and if she were a model that would change my opinion of here. but she's not. rant over ...... danelectro
I don't dislike any bands or artists for personal reasons. A list of those naming all that I don't have an appreciation of their music would be very long. Some notable ones are The Who, Journey, Alice Cooper, The Eagles, Guns and Roses, Metallica... FireOpal
Rolling Stone, Sept. 20, 1990 Rock Band Assault at Concert The bassist and drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael "Flea" Balzary and Chad Smith, have each been fined $1000 plus prosecution costs and ordered to donate $5000 to the Volusia County Rape Crisis Center, in Daytona Beach, Florida. The two pleaded guilty to various charges stemming from an incident that took place during the band's performance at an MTV spring-break party in Daytona Beach on March 14th. During the show, which was videotaped by MTV, Flea threw a twenty-year-old female fan over his shoulder, and Smith tried to remove her bikini bottoms; after she was knocked to the ground, Flea knelt on her legs, yelling obscenites and spanking her. The two were also required to write letters of apology to the victim.
FireOpal
That was donkey's years ago, and a one-off as far as I'm aware. I guess I'm just not a "forgive and forget" kind of gal. And it wasn't a one-off according to some chilling but unverified things one hears (from a reliable source - former editor of a major rock mag). Fool In The Rain 60
I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean? Are some of the royal family Muslims? I thought they were Catholics. FireOpal
I don't see what was wrong with this, they were just fooling around. What does this have to do with rape? That is just standard rock and roll behavior isn't it? Reminds of an incident at the Edgewater Hotel. Just some guys having fun with a woman who wasn't exactly walking into that sitution with her eyes closed. Yeah sure, I guess Woodstock '99 was just fun 'n games too. dazedcat
Somebody ought to kick Flea's ass for doing this. Flea ought to have gotten his ass kicked years ago just on general principal anyway. I just changed my mind, I posted earlier I didn't really dislike any rock star. Now I do. Flea, the guy took an apt nickname too.
FireOpal
You will have to fill me in on what that means? I am not aware of Woodstock 99. But I think you posted something that made it sound like spanking a girl (in fun) is the same as a rape. I just think it was all part of the show. What people came to expect from rock stars. Bro, that's what the judge decided in the Peppers case. It wasn't up to me at all. Woodstock '99 is remembered for reports of violence, rape and fires: http://www.salon.com/1999/07/29/rape_4/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock_1999 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/daily/july99/woodstock29.htm
