luvlz2
http://youtu.be/AaQSAd8eTMU Two Giant Sequoia trees that fell in September at the Trail of 100 Giants grove. The public was invited to view the trees on October 22, 2011 and provide input regarding the future of the trail the trees fell onto. The two trees had grown together at the base, and the tree diameter was approximately 17 feet, with a height of 300 feet. The trees in this grove are approximately 1500 years old. A handful of visitors to the park actually witnessed the trees falling, and some tourists from Germany were able to shoot a few seconds of video as the trees fell.(video posted above)
TheStairwayRemainsTheSame
Probably has nothing to do with anything, my apologies if it doesn't but that first one looks exactly like the hidenburg falling!
Driver8
I have always wanted to visit that Sequoia park in California. For several reasons I haven't, although in the past decade I made repeated visits to Los Angeles and once I even drove to Stockton, which I understand is closer to the park. I became fascinated with these trees after I saw them in Star Wars. If trees could grow on other planets, I think they'd look like a Sequoia, they have the perfect blend of alien features (their size) and earth features (their leaves and branches). At some point I made a little Internet research and found that the other place that has Sequoias, apart from California, is China. There is a region there where they grow, albeit less taller if I recall correctly. Sequoias can only grow in cold climate zones, which is why they would not grow if I planted one here in my country. Anyway, I hope there's enough Sequoias still standing when I finally get to visit that park.

I'm sure it'll still be there when you get the chance. :^)
