Rumpeller Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 The gamble paid off. One acoustic number together. I think it was called The Same Old Rock. Quote

mstork Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Wait what? Someone explain this to me Roy Harper had a concert tonight, I think it was for his birthday. Jimmy was rumoured to join him onstage and apparently that's what happened... Quote
truth and beauty Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Yes - in a very emotional and personal 70th birthday concert, Roy was joined first by his son Nick , then by Joanna Newsom ... and then in the penultimate song, Jimmy arrived to play acoustic with him on The Same Old Rock. IMO have always found that song one of his most significant non-Zep recordings, and to see him play it live and do it such justice was priceless. The atmosphere there was already intense and euphoric .. Jimmy's contribution raised the emotional levels even further. Just as notable was his gracious and low-key exit - in spite of a rapturous standing ovation .. leaving Roy to end the concert. Absolutely agree with the hope that it surfaces on YouTube because until I can see it again I'll be pinching myself ! Quote
Rumpeller Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 On the way into the auditorium there was a poster / notice with the times for the support and for Roy Harper (I picked one up on the way out). It says "This event is being filmed and photographed. By entering the auditorium you are consenting to be filmed and photographed.". It was definitely being audio recorded. Just as Truth and beauty said, Jimmy's appearance really raised the level, which was already intense. Joanna Newsom was a bit of a star too. Never seen her before, but I'm glad she just sang with her beautiful voice ... and didn't bring her harp with her. Happy days. Quote

Pabst Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Excellent! To see such passion and joy that comes from playing the guitar and making music. Gives me hope that we might see more from Mr. Page. Edited November 6, 2011 by Pabst Quote
TheStairwayRemainsTheSame Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) You know he's back when he starts doing the pout while he's playing Edited November 6, 2011 by TheStairwayRemainsTheSame Quote
Black-Dog Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 This was the best gig from him this year. I think he play more acoustic than e-guitar. He has good skills on the acoustic guitar. Quote

Led Zep Girl Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Excellent! To see such passion and joy that comes from playing the guitar and making music. Gives me hope that we might see more from Mr. Page. In the words of Jimmy, "I'm desperate to be playing.." So, who knows.. Quote
indigomoonbeam Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I know Jimmy is sometimes referred to as the "Dark Lord", but with all his money you'd think his wardrobe could occasionally flirt with the idea of possessing raiment that is any colour but black, grey or white.... what happened to his sartorial imagination rampant in the 70s!
