Administrators sam_webmaster Posted November 8, 2011 Administrators Posted November 8, 2011 Led Zeppelin IV - 40 Years Ago Today November 8, 2011 40 years ago today, the greatest rock band of all-time released the greatest rock album of all-time, Led Zeppelin IV. A powerhouse from the legendary opening vocal intro of “Black Dog” to the final notes of the hypnotic Mississippi blues-infused “When The Levee Breaks,” IV contains eight radio classics including “Rock And Roll,” “The Battle Of Evermore,” “Misty Mountain Hop,” “Four Sticks,” “Going To California,” and, of course, the ultimate rock anthem, “Stairway To Heaven.” “Hats Off…” to Jimmy, Robert, John Paul, and John for creating a true work of art that only gets better with age. On Sale This Week at iTunes. Led Zeppelin Official Facebook: http://www.facebook....3581891?sk=wall Quote
SuperDave Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks Sam! Can't believe it's forty years. Amazing! Quote
Bayougal65 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Our local New Orleans Classic rock station Bayou 95.7 played STH at the top of every hour today. I really wish they had played other songs off of the album at the top of each hour. It would be nice for others to learn what we know... There are 7 more amazing songs on there! What an awesome album it is!!! Quote
SuperDave Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) That is kind of ridiculous just featuring STH. That's, been my take on this whole 40th anniversary so far. On various internet sites, the headlines have been featuring the 40th anniversary of STH in the headline and not necessarily LZ IV for that matter. That's your media for you. A whole album's worth of songs should be noted, instead just focusing on one. Talk about being narrow minded. I love this clip from IMGL with Jimmy at Headley Grange, talking about the recording of "Levee". Continues with him playing a bit of "Evermore" in the second clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWI9bMe7gHE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xfy9W9my_w&feature=related Edited November 9, 2011 by SuperDave Quote
Magic Fills the Air Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) I hope these made available online for us to see. Unfortunately I can't get down to London to see them for myself. http://thefloodgalle...led-zeppelin-iv Edited to add: the pre-orders can be found here, but, as expected, are rather expensive: http://www.thefloodg...t-prints?page=2 Edited November 10, 2011 by Magic Fills the Air Quote
Earl of Court Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Such a shame that the anniversary of such a milestone of rock music has passed without a significant re-issue (see by contrast the recent Quadrophenia / Pink Floyd releases). I would love to hear IV in SACD / studio master quality and / or 5.1. If the band still have the multi-track masters then it is possible. Quote

ZoSo1960 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 (edited) Led IV @ 40 Pretty cool posters from the The Flood Gallery. Now lets do this with PG that would be cool as well. TheStairwayRemainsTheSame Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I like this one a lot, the japanese wave to the Golden Gate Bridge with a Zeppelin cruising over. Speaks volumes. Quote

That album is just incredible due to it having so many powerful and cool songs. STH is just one of many. Thanks for posting the IMGL clips. Levee and Battle of Evermore are so different from one another and yet equally intoxicating. Quote
