Somone's just had Zep as their specialist subject on tonights mastermind. He was rubbish. Didn't even know it was T.Reid who turned down the Zep vocalist gig at least he knew what the bands own record label was called...not that it'd take a 'mastermind' to know that!! Most of the questions were as easy as that.

The lyric was "I walk side by side with death" and he didnt know :o

Thanks for the Mastermind video Ady!

I guess he just froze with the mental block. Probably, banged his head against the wall for not knowing "No Quarter", a song I'm sure he is quite familiar with. :wall: :wall:

No matter how much one knows about a particular subject it can be quite easy to falter with the format of the show. You only have seconds to answer each question. It's not like you can rehearse for this as you don't know which questions you'll be asked. Probably, the only way to prepare for this is to stay relaxed.

I saw it last night. To be fair he was only 18, and must have been very nervous. Although I was surprised he got the No Quarter question wrong. I thought the questions were incredibly easy.

Under the pressure of the spotlight, it would be hard to say how any of us would handle it but given the amount of times this person said "pass" I get the impression he wasn't nearly as knowledgable about Zeppelin as he believed himself to be.

You're probably right. But he did get some of the tougher ones correct. He seemed to have more problems with the easier ones.

I agree with you Magic. Being a fan of game shows such as "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?", I remember a female contestant telling Chris Tarrant that being on the show is nothing like watching it at home and casually answering questions from the comfort of your living room. In front of the camera, under the watchful eye of a huge audience in the studio and elsewhere, the nerves do get the better of you and you are often in doubt about even extremely easy questions. But I was very very suprised to know that this 18 year old kid actually claimed that Led Zeppelin was his "specialist subject", especially after a performance like that! :o

Thanks for posting that. I think the fact he looks like he's trying so hard makes it even funnier. What a klutz! ha ha ha and notice how he rolls his eys when Humphries says his specialist is subject is Zep?

Maybe he comes on this forum.....

I wondered that when I sent him a message on his facebook. I wonder if he'll get back to me. I'm bored. ha ha ha

He's replyed to me on FAcebook.

"Agreed, completely shit performance. Two reasons. First, I didn't do any revision at all. So went in without even having thought about it properly. Second, it is indescribable how scary it is in that chair. So although I knew the answers to all of them the pressure was just too much. I was incredibly disappointed, had assumed I'd be able to get pretty much anything. Ah, the pitfalls of arrogance.

I'd be grateful if you could tell the ocean I'm profoundly sorry I let it down. And did you know it was the first time Zeppelin had ever been on Mastermind? Incredible... then again, I nearly did Robert Johnson."

It makes sense that the pressure got to him. Quite understandable. I know my Led Zeppelin trivia, but with the circumstances and the minimal amount of time between questions, I know I wouldn't be able to answer to some of those I know very easily the answer to.

I can imagine it is!

The entire audience in darkness with the spotlight on you, not to mention the TV cameras.

Whats even more scary that it is not the first time anyone has answered questions on Zeppelin on Mastermind - he didn't even know that!!! A guy from Derby,I think, was on a couple of years ago. And if memory serves me correct he did much better then the guy from Eraserhead!
