Daniel
This was posted on youtube back in April 2011 but I don't see it referenced here yet so here goes. It's a harmless prank played on Robert Plant during an appearance to the radio show "Rockline". Here's the original youtube poster' description of the audio clip: Captain Janks calls the syndicated radio program "Rockline", and asks Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin if the name of the band was recomended to them by Howard Stern! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUUqk3o-yWA

TheStairwayRemainsTheSame
^ I think it's just another example of his inscrutable sense of humour. But I don't see what's so funny about this Jank's guy's prank. I'm sure our Dennis Pennis could've done much better. Fuuuuck Dennis Pennis was yeaars ago 96? or somewhere like that
Strider
Why did Robert say it was Roy Harper?:S Listening to all that Kiss has softened your brain. The correct title should be Captain Jenks pranks the radio station...that's who let him through on the phone. Robert just happened to be sitting in the studio. Plus, instead of getting flustered, Robert took it in stride and said something that was actually funny...funnier than anything an idiot like Captain Jenks can come up with. The whole phone-prank thing is mindbogglingly stupid anyway...and way past its due date. I remember when everyone was raving about the Jerky Boys. I had a listen and I was mystified...I didn't laugh once. Maybe you have to be a brain-damaged 13-year old to find stuff like the Jerky Boys and Captain Jenks funny. Or be from New Jersey. Daniel
^ I think it's just another example of his inscrutable sense of humour. But I don't see what's so funny about this Jank's guy's prank. I'm sure our Dennis Pennis could've done much better. Not being a Howard Stern fan, never watching or listening to an entire broadcast of the man, I only recently found Jank's via google while searching for Plant the other evening when I made this, my first thread here. I would agree that this prank is not very good, one of the worst pranks (by Janks) that I took the time to listen to in fact--I liked Robert's response though and thought other's here would too so I found it my opportunity to create a new thread--we he! Some Janks' pranks were amusing because he was always getting through the scanning process of 'reputable' news agencies like CNN and radio shows like Rockline. He really picked on CNN a lot, probably because those idiots there never seemed to catch on to him--he really wreaked havoc on a very good number of their live news broadcasts and actually had them sending out live apologies over the air for his getting through their 'screening' process(es). More of Janks' pranks were unmemorable and some were downright disturbing--when I noticed that he had called Mother Angelica and pranked her on her live show, I'd had enough of him and moved on from that youtube user's videos. I wasn't familiar with the Dennis Pennis character but I did look him up on youtube. I'd have to say that he was a gutsy sort of man! But his forte wasn't really phone pranks so I don't know, perhaps he would've found a way to break into the studio to pull the 'prank' on Plant!? I didn't have a lot of time to watch his youtubes videos, but I caught a few. Some better than others! But unless one has no sense of humor whatsoever, most would find him amusing in his better pranks. The only thing that I found about that character that was lacking is that he didn't have very good comebacks when his victims effectively retorted his initial question(s). Anyway, thank you for mentioning the Dennis Pennis character, it kept me busy for a few moments and that's always a good thing.

Actually this Janks guy 'targeted' his victims, he didn't just happen to call Rockline, see who was on that night and then come up with his prank (you give Janks too much credit), so the title sticks. But next time I start a thread I'll be sure to check with you before I post it just to make sure that you approve of the title...
