Freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the freedom to say " take a long hard suck on my arse "... one voice in 300, 000, 000... get over it

There is nothing Holy about Hate. If it was just someone spouting off, that's one thing. But a man who is a Pastor preaching to the members of his church has a responsibility with the words he chooses. Would you feel the same about that type of freedom of speech, without responsibility, from a teacher in a classroom? Same level of responsibility, IMO.

And no Walter, I did not read the arctcle and I have nothing against homosexuals. Have we not all known a few in our lives? Most that I have known are fine and I have no problem with them.

You were responding by quoting the story that Jahfin had posted, so I wanted to know if you had read it before going off on him about you having to right to pray to God or whatever you were going on about. That's all.

What ally is saying that even freedom of speech you don't agree with, is protected by the 1st amendment.Look at the Westboro Baptist church,..... disgusting! Can't fix stupid.

Teachers?Don't get me started! ;)

I know what Ally is saying, KB, but "get over it" is what I was responding. I (we) have the freedom to shout down hateful, bigots like that piece of sh!t in NC. Hiding behind the cloth no less! First, he gets people against the gays, then it's the Jews, then it's the.....wrong is wrong and I will stand on the mountain tops to shout down that kind of hate.

Bro,then your playing their game.Don't fall into that trap!Got a story about when WBC came to MA for a soldiers funeral,...bikers went to support the family and knowing that the scum would be there.I got them(bikers) to keep quiet,we gave them a salute :P and roared off!

Bro,

Yes, but to ignore makes it like they are unopposed.

No,with our very presence we were not ignoring it.At times there is strength in silence. We just stood there and bowed our heads as the funeral procession went by,the Vet's in the group saluted, then we stared at these scumbags. There was a hint of fear in their eyes,....because they knew if the police weren't there, they would get silenced,....quickly.

Oh well,....

That's the point.

This "preacher" also has the legal right to say what he feels...

You have the right or even the moral obligation to call him out on it.

I'm just glad someone for whatever reason filmed and posted his rant..

Yes, but to ignore makes it like they are unopposed. What you all did up there was great, you made your presence felt. Very cool!

Exactly

KB, I'm agreeing with you. What you did was great.

In this instance noise needs to me made to denounce him unrefuetably. He is portraying to be speaking as someone who is guided by God or the teachings of Jesus and those people can get others to do crazy sh!t in the name of religion and salvation in their "heaven" whatever type of heaven that would be! I know everyone thinks it's just a few people listening to him, but all it takes is one to think they can redeam themselves in the eyes of their lord....whomever that is!?! Irresponsible.

I'm understanding that to be a profound statement saying all men/women are the same in certain circumstances.

Either that, or all men are pigs :o:D :D

Ha! Ok I get it now.

It's from Animal Farm, isn't it?

No, not the porno! Go wash your minds out, you dirty birdies!

You like some dark stuff Mr. Major. How can someone do that to a chicken?!

And no I didn't watch, just Wikipedia'd it.

I believe in Led Zeppelin. I go to The Houses of the Holy. Where we Bring it on Home. Sometimes we Boogie with Stu and have a Celebration Day....of course we have Good Times Bad Times, but Hey Hey What Can I do?

We all know one day, Your Time is Gonna Come, I hope I'm In The Light, In My Time of Dying. When that day comes it will be Nobody's Fault But Mine. So please don't say...Poor Tom.

Instead go Down By The Seaside, The Ocean or Over The Hills and Far Away, have a Tangerine, Custard Pie or a Hot Dog and know my soul will be Going To California or Kashmir. That The Way it's going to be, so I'm going to take a Stairway to Heaven and Rock and Roll on the way.

Friends, I Thank You with All Of My Love, oh, and Darlene. I realize Ten Years Gone I was a Fool in the Rain as well as a Heartbreaker when I took the Night Flight. So, The Song Remains The Same and I will Ramble On. Maybe one day We're Gonna Groove or just get Sick Again.

^ I hope you realize that these signs are tricks. I've heard it a thousand times before in churches. They say things like this so you will think they are really loving and open minded but in reality they are no different than anyone else. Or in rare occasions they don't actually even practice the religion the church creed ascribes too. Either way these signs are just trying to fool people.

In some cases that may be true as there is a lot of photo manipulation on the internet via software programs such as Photoshop (imagine that). There's also a site called "Church Sign Maker". However, in the case of the Missiongathering Church photo, I can assure that it's an actual sign. If you don't believe me, you can check their website or their Facebook page. Here is an explanation of the sign I posted a photo of in my previous post:

In 2008 when Proposition 8 passed in California, Missiongathering Christian Church wanted to make a statement that some Christians don't speak for all Christians. San Diego was ground zero for Prop 8 and the churches that started the ballot initiative. Within a week of Prop 8's passage, we put up a billboard apologizing to all those who were hurt by the voting results. Then the billboard went viral. With emails and phone calls coming in from all over the world, we decided to create the "Our Hearts Are With You" campaign giving people a place to dialogue, post stories, discuss, and be encouraged by this message, join the movement, and spread the apology on their own.

Now in 2012 with the passage of Amendment 1 in North Carolina, the apology has started making the rounds again. After many Facebook changes over the last few years, we have recreated the "Our Hearts Are With You" campaign here as a fan page. At the end of May the apology billboard will go up in Charlotte, NC, to say to the LGBT community and their allies, that they are not alone.
