Created Below
Lot's of mixed feelings about this, but have to admit the trailer looks promising.
redrum
I still haven't read the book. I'll do that before seeing the film.
Patrycja
Isn't this what Coppola wrote a script for/wanted to get it done for the last 30 years or so? Interesting for it to finally see the light of day. Hopefully it is done well enough to do the original justice (or at least spare it embarrassment...) Jahfin
Isn't this what Coppola wrote a script for/wanted to get it done for the last 30 years or so? From what I understand, it is. According to this Wiki entry (which someone here was kind enough to point out to me recently), apparently Kerouac wanted to make a film out of it as far back as '57. That was news to me. I hope the filmmakers do it justice as well, making a movie out of On the Road is a lot to live up to.
Created Below
Coppola bought the rights to it in... '77,'79? Something like that. There've been a bunch of false starts over the years. A while back, the word was that Brad Pitt had been cast as Dean Moriarty. I nearly puked blood. Thank Christ, that fell through. HOWL is one of my favorite flicks of the last few years. James Franco did a knock-out job as Ginsberg, although the actors playing Cassidy and Kerouac were way too GQ. I'm praying they've done at least a respectable job with OTR. Hollywood has a habit of raping my favorite novels; i.e. I AM LEGEND. What a travesty that was. Obviously, I highly recommend to anyone that you read the book first. ON THE ROAD really is one of the greatest books of the 20th century.
