For years Page promised a live chronological Zeppelin album which is exactly what Led Zeppelin DVD is, only we get the added benefit of visuals. There are some notables missing (like "When the Levee Breaks"), but it's fairly complete. But not the BEST version of each song ever recorded live..... Graf Zeppelin from Germany Posted September 26, 2012 Share Posted September 26, 2012 jimmy promised around 1977 to release such an album. i guess there are more audio than video tapes in a good quality that he got . it would be a great thing but i don´t know if he would choose my favorite versions. he did it with the -in my time of dying.dvd release. but i made my personal bootleg best of by now.therefore it is always intresting to hear people in hear mentioning other versions that i don´t know so far. Perhaps once the O2 show is out, they can take a step back from the type of releases they've been doing the past 20 years, and just start offering downloads of shows direct. Why not get these shows out to those who want them? Even with those shows where Plant's voice is rough, or Page messes up on a solo, so what? It's not as if THAT many people would download and listen, or that it would tarnish their legacy in any way. There is a big difference between the Zeppelin that the mass public wants to hear and the Zeppelin live history that fans like us want to hear. You're going to have to be clearer than that in your post, James. I mean, what do you mean by 'professionally filmed'? We've already got the 1970 Royal Albert Hall concert and the 1973 Madison Square Gardens footage out on DVD. There is full video footage of the 5.24 and 5.25 Earls Court concerts of 1975 that have been released on bootleg DVDs, as well as the 7.17.77 Seattle and both 1979 Knebworth concerts. Length doesn't always equal quality. Case in point, that 35 minute Moby Dick from Landover 77...surely the most boring solo Bonham ever performed. It's a quaalude lover's dream. That 45 minute Dazed and Confused from LA? Another soporific performance. Add in the Berlin 80 Stairway, and you're looking at a compilation that would be destined for the cutout bins. People would listen once, possibly burn it, then take it back to the record store. Personally, I think that each Led Zeppelin concert had its own specific personality and magic, that it's nigh impossible to do the band justice with a live anthology.
