The possibilities of what is out there are just awe inspiring.....

STZ , several things in the news the past few days have made me thought of this thread....

First, and maybe the certainly the most surreal:

The star that may have tipped astronomers off to signs of alien life:

...and  closer to home, maybe too close?

yes I have seen a few videos of the floating city.... possibly just some kind of reflection/mirage. Possibly not....

The asteroids that scientists DON'T pick up... they are the worry!

^^ At the bottom of zepscoda's article is another one detailing how about 50,000 new variable objects have been found in the Milky Way from the largest single astronomy photo recently created. It's hard to fathom not only the enormity of the task to put all this info together, but the vastness of all that's out there. Just makes you shake your head and smile in wonder:

The largest astronomy image of all time reveals something amazing

etacarinae

While we can't show you the entire image, this is a piece of it revealing one of the most active stars in our galaxy called Eta Carinae (identified by the red arrow) and is gaseous                                                                                                                                     environment called the Carina nebula (shown in green).

Here's the online tool  "...which not only shows the image but also has a search feature you can use to identify specific objects.": http://astro.vm.rub.de/

I saw this last night here in Glendale, AZ. Actually I decided to step outside and looked up towards the west and there it was, my neighbor then stepped outside and I pointed up and said "Is that a UFO?" and she looks up and sees it, she calls her husband out and before he made it out the door it disappeared, but still kind of made somewhat of a glow. Turns out it was a missle test by the Navy that originated in California.
