Zufo
Hard to believe none other captured that sliver of time but me. The date(month year) it happened says it all - 7-77 The Hermit,The Magician and myself,The Artist were in alignment with the power of enlightenment,The Sun! - True Magick my friend! That show was not a concert - it was a magickal act - never to appear again! I also captured the moment the witch danced the dance macabre that day - That one is even more amazing! I was there -

Sadly, another great musician has shuffled off this mortal coil Played on my favorite Savoy Brown recordings, and a few great UFO lps, as well, amongst his many contributions to other musicians/recordings, over the years. Condolences to his family and friends.
Michael Conen
While the COVID-19 situation has forced many to alter their lives in a number of ways, I've welcomed the self-isolation recommendations, as an opportunity to work on more of my archives of photographs. A recent selection of one appearance in 1978, which featured the bands Head East and Foreigner, on the bill: Rupp Arena, Lexington KY, on July 14, 1978. Enjoy, and constructive criticism is always welcome. More, on the show, and additional photos, as well: https://michaelconen.wordpress.com/2020/05/14/where-were-you-foreigner-with-head-east-opening-at-rupp-arena-lexington-ky-july-14-1978/
Michael Conen
Finally "finished" another set of images that I captured at a location and date that still stumps me, as I have no written records at hand to confirm those details - and scouring the Internet has led to further mystery, since few records exist of this line-up performing during the years I would have most likely photographed them. Perhaps someone on this forum can shed some light on that. In the meantime, here are a few of the better images from that Derringer, Bogert & Appice show: A few more of these images can be found on my blog, if you're interested in seeing more: "Where Were You?" - Derringer, Bogert & Appice at Armando's in Louisville, Kentucky circa 1981

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but the last couple of days were a whirlwind of activity for me, so I didn't have the time, before now, to thank you..... Nice ticket stub [with most of the name & details in place]! Wish I still had mine to share, but "went missing" during a major move [~ 30 years of stubs starting in the early 70's...]. Cheers! These shots were taken in one of 3 possible locations, within a year of you seeing them [between 1981-82], either in Louisville, Kentucky, or Cincinnati, Ohio. Lost a lot of important papers in that big move, so I no longer can pin it down, accurately, unfortunately. Hoping that someone else that attended the show will chime in with the actual date and venue From my research on the Internet, there is scant mention of them doing shows together. The focus seems to be on when they gathered to record together, a bit later, but very few live dates come up [but I will admit that a couple of evenings doing that research, isn't necessarily going to get me what I'm looking for. No newspaper mentions, from 5 regional publications, so I'm at a dead-end on that, for now]. Cheers!

They played in Japan in early March 1982. Sacramento on 3/18/82. Los Angeles on 3/20/82. Philadelphia on 4/3/82. So your date is likely late March or early to mid-April 1982. Derringer toured as a solo artist that summer while Carmine did a circuit of drum clinics before touring with Ted Nugent starting in Sep 1982.

Just spent time searching those exact time frames you suggested, on Newspapers.com, with no luck [again]. I had a second look at the mounted slides, and they were processed in April of '82, so they must have performed during the time-frame you suggested, and from the ads you posted...... Will just have to wait for more evidence of the announcement to turn up, at some point. Your time on this matter, is much appreciated, in the meantime. Cheers, Michael I exhausted newspapers.com as well, to arrive at my conclusion. Our best bet now is either a concert listing (or ad) that ran in a rock music magazine like Creem or Rolling Stone or access to the Cincinnati Enquirer or Lexington, KY newspaper archives (I don't believe either participates in newspapers.com). Edited to add they played Park West in Chicago on 3/28/82...Philly 4/3/82...your gig is likely within that timeframe. Edited October 27, 2020 by SteveAJones
Michael Conen
Slowly going through a cleaning of negatives, and re-scanning them at an even higher resolution. Examples of a couple of shots of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers that are ready to print on archival papers (or not). These are jpegs, but the prints are done from hi-res Tiff files... My archives are slowly going through this process, and will include select Zep images, along with many others from my archives.
