I read everything I could get my hands on when I was growing up...books, magazines, newspapers, I enjoyed it all. The first two film critics that I remember reading that made an impression on me were Charles Champlin and Judith Crist.

She came up during a time when there weren't many women in the field...later I would discover Pauline Kael and Penelope Gilliatt of the New Yorker..but Judith was the first.

RIP Judith Crist.

I saw that moments after I'd finished reading another article about Marvin Hamlisch. I was too sad to start another thread about a great talent dying...

Same here, Lakey...she would be the first thing I read when the new TV Guide arrived in the mail.

It's getting like that every day, it seems...just read about Robert Hughes.
