Major Major Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Being the sad, sad bastard that I am, it occurred to me a while ago to wonder: what's the longest totally vocal-free passage in a non-instrumental LZ studio track? Been meaning to check for ages, and finally remembered today. I thought it would be a close call between two particular songs, but I thought I knew which one it would be...and I was right, on both counts! (The difference between the two is actually only about 5 seconds.) So, without checking, what would your guess be? And if you're as sad as me & already know the answer, please don't post. ONE GUESS PER PERSON. Once again, for the dullards at the back: Moby Dick doesn't count. Quote
Strider Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Ok before I go to bed, I'll take a wild guess and say Rain Song. Quote
the chase Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Robert doesn't usually leave much vocal free space does he? The one who takes the cake is the Counting Crowes singer... non stop vocal............ Quote
Strider Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 We have a winner! 2.37. Not an obvious candidate - I only really noticed it after listening to endless live versions. Well done! Sweet! So what do I win? Quote
Flyingzepp Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Dang, I would've guessed Immigrant Song. Lol! Immigrant song. Re-read the question dude. I probably would have guessed Tea or Carouselambra Quote
Strider Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Two swings at Kim Thayil? I'll only need one. Quote
Rainsong07 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Rain Song makes sense. Thats a long verse. I was going to guess Fool In The Rain. Quote
TheStairwayRemainsTheSame Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Well it's White Summer isn't it, that is a studio track. Quote
reswati Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Well it's White Summer isn't it, that is a studio track. Black Mountain Side and Jennings Farm Blues too. Quote
reswati Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Black Mountain Side and Jennings Farm Blues too. But since this thread is about the longest totally vocal-free passage in a non-instrumental LZ studio track, all that info about WS, BMS and JFB is irrelevant. Quote
oconrocks Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Either In My Time of Dying or Dazed and Confused Live. Quote
