hecube
On what songs does Jimmy sing backup vocals? I can think of "Thank you". What other songs?
DAS
In The Song Remains The Same you can see him singing the backing vocals to Whole Lotta Love. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
jayceeporter
How funny! I run a Zeppelin tumblr, and we were asked that yesterday “Communication Breakdown”, “Thank You”, “Living Loving Maid (She’s Just a Woman)”, “Gallows Pole”, “Whole Lotta Love”, “Good Times Bad Times”, “Hey Hey What Can I Do"
hecube
Great! Thanks! BTW, I can assure you I'm not the one who asked via Tumblr. Edited August 22, 2012 by hecube
tmtomh
And don't forget his taking Sandy Denny's vocal role in the live '77 versions of Battle of Evermore. Yikes!

DAS
Did he not sing the Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp also?
Sagittarius Rising
JPJ did indeed sing response to Robert's call in the live 77' BOE. Jimmy also sings backup on Tangerine, studio and live.

mstork
He occasionally offered backing on the live versions of That's the Way, you can see this on the DVD...
DavidZoso
I can't remember which SBD it was but you can clearly hear him singing background vocals on Bron-Y-Aur Stomp with Robert and Bonzo and I think he is doing the same at the end of The Battle of Evermore all on the 1977 tour. He has a mic in front of him while he is sitting down- it isn't there for decoration haha .
bluecongo
Gallows Pole that's him doing the "ahhh-ah-ah" Living Loving Maid I think Your Time is Gonna Come maybe
Charles J. White
On the DVD "It Might Get Loud In Here" Jimmy sings background vocals with the Edge, and Jack. Being with 3 guitar players who sing, seemed to pull him out his shell when it comes to singing Edited August 28, 2012 by Charles J. But unless the marijuana haze was too thick for me to see clearly or my memory is faulty, I never saw Jimmy Page sing during "Battle of Evermore". "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp", yes. "That's the Way", yes. Maybe even at the end of "Going to California" at times. But never "Battle of Evermore"...that was Jonesy's baby.
tmtomh
yeh.........jonesy Oh crap, my bad - sorry! I got confused; JPJ indeed did the co-lead vocal; Jimmy just did backing on that track.

On this SBD from Landover 5-28-77 you can especially hear another voice when Jonesy sings and it is not a harmonizer. Listen to The Battle of Evermore. But then at the end Robert says for the first time in 9 years Bonzo sang-(which isn't true he had been doing back ups on Bron-Y-Aur Stomp and The Ocean) http://starship.gotdns.com/zeppelin/beauty/file/index.jsp?R_date=1977/05/
Melcórë
On the DVD "It Might Get Loud In Here" Jimmy sings background vocals with the Edge, and Jack. Being with 3 guitar players who sing, seemed to pull him out his shell when it comes to singing I thought the same thing. He's always seemed quite shy about his voice. While it might not be anything to write home about, his vocal contributions have always been cherished by me. (I particularly enjoy hearing him during "Thank You," and the live "Tangerine" from the Forum 72 show.)
MollyHendrix
He sings lead in "She Just Satisfies" his only single released in 1965. Edited August 29, 2012 by Victoria7

Z-o-S-o
On live versions of Louie Louie and Money (That's What I Want) from Seattle 1972 there are some extremely cool backing vocals. Could be Jimmy?

Part of it is that Zeppelin's music was never really harmony related like say the Beatles or The Beach Boys so Page who seems shy about singing, never had to be pushed by Robert to contribute background vocals. He did sing as we can see on those early vids of him as a kid on the BBC. I seem to recall on the Coverdale Page tour of Japan he did a bit as well

I think it might have grown tired if they'd tried to emulate or work within that style. I was just mentioning my enjoyment of what he did contribute vocally. When he said he was "hopeless" as a singer in IMGL, I was like nooooo.
Genghis Kon
I know this is an old thread, but here is something that intrigued me, which I found in the book for the Presence box set. EDIT: I can see now that Jimmy is playing mandolin, so this is probably a shot of Evermore. Edited July 31, 2015 by Genghis Kon
