DavidZoso Posted August 25, 2012 Share Posted August 25, 2012 This was the fifth night out of six played at Madison Square Garden in New York on the 1977 US tour. It was another very good night- the group turning in great versions of all the songs. No Quarter is a very nice version with lots of good jamming during the guitar solo bit. The theremin section during Jimmy Page's guitar solo has to be the most controlled sounds he ever produced from it. I think it sounds like a 1950's SCI-FI movie soundtrack. lol During Stairway to Heaven John Bonham comes in early with the drums-Robert has to switch mid-lyric and then even says right after the line 'There's still time to change the road you're on' Robert then says: " I hope so Bonzo" lol another example of the Tight but Loose live experience. This show also has the rare encore for 1977 shows anyway- Black Dog. This is the first time it is played on this tour and the only other time is at the first Oakland show 7-23-77.
