Just heard on CNN about a 7.7 earthquake off the coast of Western Canada 2 hours ago, Sunday 10/28/12. A warning has been issued for all of Hawaii and an advisory for parts of the California coastline.

I hope all our members in those areas and your families/friends are safe and please take cover. Missy

Here is the latest (copy/paste) from the Hawaii Tsunami Info Center.

Great news...looks like all warnings and alerts have been lifted. Read one report saying the largest wave caused by the quake measured 69cm or just over 2 feet.

The plates movement sideways, rather than up and down, causes much less movement in the water.

The warnings have been downgraded but lifted in all areas.

Yes, the plates moved sideways causing a rolling wave type earthquake but , it was felt as far east as Alberta and at least as far south as parts of Greater Vancouver. There is still an aftershock advisory in effect

Glad everyone is safe, you too Bro! :P

To quote Mrs Ally " Never felt a thing "

Still nothing in Vancouver Ally? How many years ago did she make that statement?

Some areas of Vancouver did feel the quake. A few tall buildings swayed and a theatre on the north east side was evacuated. There have been a couple of strong aftershocks 6.3 and 5.4. Haven't heard of any damage from them though.

Mrs Ally has a sick sense of humour Rick. A very sick sense of humour

I'm not far from Canada and I agree. :^)

You agree that Mrs Ally never felt a thing or you didn't feel the quake ??? J/k

I honestly thought you might have felt the quake as it's not uncommon for Washington State to feel the jolts . It seems as though it was felt over a very widespre area but not where one would normally think

The Quake!!! You'll have to work on that other thing. :^)

No shaking here that I know of, but that 2000 Nisqually quake got my attention. I was ready to move back to California.

I went through the Loma Prieta quake in the bay area in '89. Now THAT was a mutha!! Bad for many there but a boon for the construction industry.

Keep workin' that thing. :^)
