MINI_Zoso Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Great news...looks like all warnings and alerts have been lifted. Read one report saying the largest wave caused by the quake measured 69cm or just over 2 feet. The plates movement sideways, rather than up and down, causes much less movement in the water. Quote

The warnings have been downgraded but lifted in all areas. Yes, the plates moved sideways causing a rolling wave type earthquake but , it was felt as far east as Alberta and at least as far south as parts of Greater Vancouver. There is still an aftershock advisory in effect Quote

ally Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Still nothing in Vancouver Ally? How many years ago did she make that statement? Some areas of Vancouver did feel the quake. A few tall buildings swayed and a theatre on the north east side was evacuated. There have been a couple of strong aftershocks 6.3 and 5.4. Haven't heard of any damage from them though. Mrs Ally has a sick sense of humour Rick. A very sick sense of humour Quote

J/k I honestly thought you might have felt the quake as it's not uncommon for Washington State to feel the jolts . It seems as though it was felt over a very widespre area but not where one would normally think Quote

redrum Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I've felt a few shakers in my time but nothing major. Hope it stays that way too As for me having to work on that other thing I went through the Loma Prieta quake in the bay area in '89. Now THAT was a mutha!! Bad for many there but a boon for the construction industry. Keep workin' that thing. :^) Quote
