Walter's Walk Lyrics

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, these are the lyrics of walter's walk, that could be found on the internet:

Ooh...know I feel so strange looking out the door

oooh...tryin hard to change but can't let go

oooh...cryin' tears of pain and more and more

oooh...everyday is the same as the one before

I'm walkin the floor over you

I'm walkin the floor

Every heart that breaks is a heart that's cold

To the hand that takes your dreamless soul

Ooh...Is it long to wait, is it much to pay?

oooh...Sometimes it's hard waiting for the day.

you know it's hard. I said it's hard

You know it's true. I said it's hard

you know it's hard. You know it's true

Every tear that falls is a smile that's lost

When you hear the call can you count the cost?

As you stand alone do you wonder how?

Can you step aside, does it matter now?

Every love that's changed ?-?-?-?-?-?

In the eye of the night ?-?-?-

In the day everything ?-?-?-?

She was smilin' a tear at her waters fall ??

you know it's true. You know it's true now

I'm walkin the floor over you

I'm walkin' the floor

Every tear that falls is a smile that's lost

When you hear the call can you count the cost?

As you stand alone do you wonder how?

Can you step aside, does it matter now?

Now does any body knows the question marks part ??? it's impossible for me to figure it out.

Thanks for the lyrics man. This is one of their best songs ever made. I agree with Becken on Bonzo's drumming. He was hammering away.

Well the Second verse, the part with the question mark, is nearly unidentifiable. and i wanted to know those lyrics, because this is one of my very favorites, the solo is EPIC and Bonzo is Fu**ing Awesome :D.

I can't tell a word he says when he sings, to be honest

In an interview, I remember Plant saying something like "the words and vocals aren't as important as the music, they are just little lyrical punctuations"

Here is the version I've managed to come up with, some slight variations on the OP's version.

Ooh...know I feel so strange looking at the door

Oooh...Tryin hard to change but can't let go

Oooh...Cryin' tears of pain and more and more

Oooh...Every day is the same as you walk the floor

I'm walkin the floor over you

I'm walkin the floor

Every heart that breaks is a heart that's cold

Oooh…to the hand that takes your dreamless soul

Oooh...Is it long to wait, is it much to pay?

Oooh...Cause sometimes it's hard waiting for the day

You know it's hard. I said it's hard You know it's true

I said it's hard, you know it's hard. You know it's true

Every tear that falls is a smile that's lost

When you hear the call can you count the cost?

As you stand alone do you wonder how?

Can you step aside, does it matter now?

Every love that's changed (every love that's changed) spend it fully

In the eye of the light (in the eye of the light) ?.?.? (something underneath...) from the heart insane

Every day every way day every endless spite..?.?

So you find the tears in Walter’s Walk

You know it's true now, you know it's true now, oooh ooh ooh yeah!

I'm walkin the floor over you

I'm walkin' the floor

Every tear that falls is a smile that's lost

When you hear the call can you count the cost?

As you stand alone do you wonder how?

Can you step aside, does it matter now?

Does it matter now? (repeat)

-------------------------------------------------------

And that's as far as I've managed to get. If only I had access to the master tracks I could hear what Robert is saying on that other channel in the 2nd line of that tricky verse...!

Oh - and I wonder what Walter's Walk is...drug reference?

Oh - and I wonder what Walter's Walk is...drug reference?

The song is about pacing with a worried mind over a woman, and I suspect they nicked it from Ernest Tubb:

Having said that, I want to say I very vaguely recall there was a ballroom balladeer named Walter famous for love songs about love, but that could be just my imagination.

from what I have pieced together, WW is a mash not unlike a great deal of the content of CODA.

Conjuctures from an homble' toward Bonham, a love gone by- nope. It's a typical Plant lyric and it's awesome in it's stretchability to fit emotions and put thoughts of experience in a tight little spotlight- love the lyrics. Plant's performance is so sweet. He used his "Slowdancer/Honeydrippers" voice. :D

Drums were recorded at Polar, guitar at Sol, vocals at Sol- dunno of JPJ did the bass or if Page did it. Walter is a reference to Little Walter the harmonica player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Walter

... a balladeer with a harmonica ya?

Bonhams' drum track is not unsimilar to many played by the shuffle master Fred Below

Page's guitar licks and sounds are not unsimilar to Muddy Water's including Hoochie Coochie Man (Little Walter- harp player)

JPJ(?) bass line is standard hold it down walkin'

Plant's lyrics are his own shaped around the frame of traditional blues

as a sample if anyone is interested- a sample of the influences is here ======>>>

minutia and detail (I dig this stuff) =====>>> here pg.13+ it gets really good for me http://www.soundofli...ittleWalter.pdf

I know the thread is about WW lyrics, for context consider this tracks (especially the drum sound and turns: live 5/20/66 Univ. of Chicago)

for a sampler in a box of influences on LZ - the last four tracks in particular =====> https://play.google.com/store/music/album?id=Bbdige53m74t252ngmwqlinloay&tid=song-T3ggtx7bpnmp2nh73fv37m72254&rdot=1&rdid=song-T3ggtx7bpnmp2nh73fv37m72254

I'm thinking you are correct about Little Walter. It just makes sense.

Sorry for the hijack, but this thread led me to this:

It's just too awesome not to share! And interesting to hear how well the lads interpreted it.

The vocals were recorded at the time of Coda being put together- his vocals are similar to the sound of 'Pictures at Eleven' but I do like the track for sure.
