As expected Dave sticks to his "rose tinted glasses" view, which is understandable given that he was (and still is) a fan when he went on the tour and must have thought himself to be a very fortunate man. Then you need to pick up Rotterdam or Frankfurt my friend. The first four shows of the tour were excellent and from there they went up and down. For the most part the Tour Over Europe was a good tour with the majority of the shows good, some excellent, and only three stinkers. They proved this approach, vs. the old approach with the 30 minute epics, was they way to go for the foreseeable future. The only complaint I had with this tour was the setlist and especially the RS, HD, AML mid-show quaalude. RS did not fit, HD should have been used as an encore, and AML would have worked much better after Kashmir. It worked for some numbers (or maybe some numbers worked in spite of the guitar tone?), but overall I didn't think it worked. Same with Bonzo's sound. Maybe it's the dry soundboards??? The "buzzing insects" sound, as it was described earlier, is what killed "Rain Song" just about every night for the most part. That song needs a clean sound, not distortion IMO. I also do not like the sound they had, maybe it's the boards, but something about it rubbed me the wrong way. I do think the show needed some tweaking regarding the set list and it's order but for the most part I found the performances to be good with some really great moments although the bad moments are pretty bad. I bought a 9 record set from Wendy Midnight moonlight, Platinum, and Dinosaur. The way the sold it you needed all three to get 2 full shows and part of another.
