Led Dirigible
I certainly hope Page performs. Maybe we'll see Clapton, Beck, and Page on the stage together. Although, I kind of doubt Clapton will attend because he'll has concerts on the 14th and 16th in the states.
SteveAJones
16 March 2013. The Yardbirds 50th Anniversay Gig. I've heard that all former members are to perform. Whomever told you all former members are to perform may not realize Keith Relf is deceased. Regardless, they must not know on this same date Eric Clapton shall be performing at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Eric has admitted he must take an afternoon nap prior to gigs; regardless I find it far-fetched he'd fly from Phoenix to London to jam then immediately fly to Houston to perform a full show of his own roughly twelve hours later. Jimmy has only performed once with a reformed lineup of The Yardbirds, at their Rock n' Roll Hall induction in 1993 and since then they've been unable to resolve 'Live Yardbirds! Featuring Jimmy Page' royalties and ownership. Furthermore, his proposal to produce an album of all the Yardbirds Anderson Theatre and New York studio tracks has gone nowhere. I don't see him playing.
Dallas Knebs
hope it goes well for them EDIT: after reading SAJ's post- I thought Jimmy Page owns the rights to The Yardbirds name and usage ????
tomloge
I saw the current Yardbirds line-up including Dreja and McCarty, probably close to 10 years ago. They were great. excellent show. They have some young guys in the band who are really good. I have a few of the discs they've put out over the past 10-15 years: Reunion Jam, Birdland, Live at BB Kings, and a bootleg of a show I was at. Very good stuff. I think they would like some of the former members to join them, but don't know if that will happen. I'm friends with a guy that works with them. TheStairwayRemainsTheSame
"The band boasts two of its original members – Jim McCarty and Chris Dreja although Chris has been unwell lately and may not be able to appear with the band but hopefully will be making a guest appearance. They are joined by guitarist Ben King (who critics have compared to Jeff Beck) and two fantastic musicians, both from the UK, AndyMitchell, a powerful singer, songwriter and formidable acoustic guitar player and harmonica player with a style reminiscent of the original band’s sound, and David Smale, a brilliant young bass player who brings both power and imagination to The Yardbirds’ all important rhythm section. Event is mainly standing, with some unreserved seating available. St. George’s Suite, East Stand Entrance, Twickenham Stadium, Rugby Road, Twickenham TW1. This event will be a sell-out so early booking is advised. Doors 7pm. Opening Act Jay Tamkin Band 8pm. Yardbirds 9pm" Tell me where that says Jimmy Page

He does not. Regardless, I am referring specifically to the rights and royalties of a proposed Page-produced re-release of the recording originally used for the 'Live Yardbirds! Featuring Jimmy Page' album.

I don't see why Page wouldn't be invited to some sort of reunion show.
SteveAJones
I don't see why Page wouldn't be invited to some sort of reunion show. He has been invited as well as in the past. Though he could possibly attend, I can think of many reasons why he would not perform.

SteveAJones
Although Jim McCarty is on drums, co-founding member Chris Dreja is still recovering from a stroke he suffered nearly a year ago and not in the lineup for this tour. Paul Samwell-Smith left the band quite some time ago; uncertain if he has joined them onstage at any point during the current tour. Here is a performance clip of The Yardbirds recorded a few months back during this tour: Here is an interview with three members of the current incarnation of The Yardbirds:

After having experienced some success with The Yardbirds, he walked away from the music business rather than try his luck with another group. I've often wondered if this is more usual than we fans realize. I hope he fully recovers from his stroke.

Yes, it's great that he was well enough to attend. Other posters explained that Clapton is touring in the US and Page and the other Yardbirds can't come to terms over the Live Yardbirds Featuring Jimmy Page album. What kept Jeff Beck away? I can't speak for Jeff but anniversary dates as such have never seemed that important to him. He's also preparing to participate in MGM Grand’s Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Las Vegas from April 18-21.
