redrum
My receding gum lines have finally caught up with me, so it's off to the dentist in about an hour. My bottom gums look pretty bad and are starting to hurt just a bit. We'll see if I come out of there with teeth as white as my skin. Wish me luck. paul carruthers
Going to the dentist can be a pain in the ass & the wallet. Good luck dude.
SozoZoso
I used to be scared stiff of the dentist. The drill, "that" smell, the stomach churning wait for Mr "hairy hands" the dentist, the sounds of screaming...and that was just people getting the bill! tomloge
I feel for you. tons and tons of fillings, root canals, infections, etc. Now I have no teeth at all. Dentures on top and bottom. Have had dentures for 20 years plus.

If they recommend having a deep cleaning done, go for it. Your gums will be sore afterwards but not for long . Made a hell of a difference for me ! jb126
How did it go redrum? Hopefully you have a good insurance plan if you need to have extensive work done. My plan is not great, I've been hurt in the wallet as well, but it's better than no coverage.
reswati
I have a very funny dentist, so I always have to look out not to bite on his fingers because of some silly remark he makes.
ScarletMacaw
And the sad part is they don't even give you Vicodin anymore...
redrum
Going to the dentist can be a pain in the ass & the wallet. Good luck dude. It was just x-rays and an exam. I was given the estimate ($1,867) but have also applied to a dental plan which will take some sting out of that.

Have had dentures for 20 years plus. The good news is I don't need any pulled and she said my top teeth are in good shape and I have no cavities. But I go back in 3 weeks to get a full cleaning and need 6 fillings to help with the receding gumlines. I was amazed at the instant x-rays coming up on the computer screen. They almost looked like scanning electronic microscope photos.

redrum
The heavy work is all done. I had two visits and they did one side at a time. Thorough cleaning (the tartar on my front bottom tooth was terrible looking). Now that it's gone I don't mind looking at my teeth in the mirror now. Hell of a difference. They also did 6 external fillings. It was about 4 hours total in the chair and the bill was $600. Well worth it. I go back in 6 weeks for an evaluation and polishing. All ladies worked on me and I feel they are more gentle. :^)
Bong-Man
Thank God for modern dentistry. My whole family has soft teeth. I've got three bridges and over half of my mouth is capped. I must have a good dentist because I've never had a cap come off. Had a root canal on one tooth and had it capped. Two years later I was out West camping and felt something weird when I was eating peanuts around the fire. Woke up the next morning to a swollen jaw. Had to get it pulled and a bridge installed which was over $3,000....a total of $4200 for one tooth. lol....Only cost $89 to pull it though. I've probably spent $25,000 on my mouth in the last 15 years. Remember those goofy flouride treatments they gave you in school ?

I don't remember the fluoride treatments (only the line from Dr. Strangelove about it) :^) My girlfriend goes in next month for a crown and I'm not sure what else she will agree to as they had quite a list for her. But it all comes down to $$$$ don't it?

Glad to hear that you're happy with the results and I'm sure you're thinking the same as I did...why didn't I do this sooner
