Walter Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Yeah, we're doing alright down here. Mrs. Walter is about a third of the way through her initial treatments and, so far, things are going pretty well. I haven't seen a post from fishhead since around the US Open last year....I see he was last active last month though. Hmmmm. Quote
chillumpuffer Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 My predictions for the Masters: Henrik Stenson Adam Scott Jason Day Big Phil - for old times sake Justin Rose Quote
badgeholder Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Phil said Ricky Fowler was killing in practice.... Quote
Walter Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Yeah, CP, I'm picking similar to you... Jason Day Adam Scott Matt Kuchar Justin Rose Phil Mickelson I like Fowler, but he can never seem to put 4 solid rounds together... Of course sleepers to watch always seem to include Angel Cabrerra, Miguel Jimenez, and Fred Couples. Quote
Whoopie Cat Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Just 3 picks for me. Adam Scott Jason Day Matt Jones Quote
Walter Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Just put the coverage on my computer at work with Adam Scott leading heading into "amen corner"....and he puts it in the drink at 12! Quote
Walter Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Bubba Watson in the house with a 68 today and a 3-shot lead at -7, including 5 birdies in a row from #'s12-16. Mickelson looks like he will miss the cut, oh well.... Quote
jb126 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Haven't had a chance to watch any of the tournament yet, but hope to catch the end today. Interesting leaderboard. Shocked to see Couples up there, good on him. Quote
Pagefan55 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I was also shocked to see Couples up there. Quote
chillumpuffer Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Well done Bubba. Hard luck Jordan. But let's see how they tackle the Open on the west coast of England ? Quote
jabe Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Boy, was I wrong about Bubba choking or what!? Glad I didn't wager any of Rick's cash on my prediction. Quote
Walter Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Bubba played a very solid last round, job well done. I thought that someone would've made a run at him with some birdies on the back nine, but that's what happens when you have young guys/old guys/non-major winning guys all in a pack. Couples being up there wasn't a surprise at all - he has consistently been on the leaderboard going into Sunday the past few years. I was surprised by the lack of international competitors being up there on the weekend though.... Quote
Walter Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Any thoughts going into this week's U.S. Open? Obviously Phil Mickleson has to be the favorite, being a 6-time runner-up in all, and in '99 at Pinehurst. Quote
Walter Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 So a 3-shot lead with an early tee time for Martin Kaymer. He will need those strokes come Sunday. Wide open tourney with A LOT within striking distance. The course hasn't shown its teeth yet! Quote
Walter Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Hope Fowler can put some heat on Kaymer and make things interesting tomorrow. I didn't know until yesterday that the women's US Open is also being played at Pinehurst - next week - which is the reason the greens are so attackable this week. They couldn't be stressed as much as usual and still be tournament ready for next week. Quote
Walter Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 COMPTON!! +1 I had heard his story a few years back, but didn't remember his name....I wasn't able to watch any golf yesterday due to a family commitment that ran late. Si I didn't realize it was him, until this morning. Great kid, great story! Quote
Walter Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 The Open Championship is coming up next week. Which course are they playing this year, CP? Quote
chillumpuffer Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hoylake Walt. Not far from me as a matter of fact. A tough links course ( of course) near Liverpool. Who do ya fancy? Quote
Walter Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 If it's a tough links course, hmmm, I'll have to think about this.... Do you think Westwood will ever win a major? Quote
JTM Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hoylake Walt. Not far from me as a matter of fact. A tough links course ( of course) near Liverpool. Who do ya fancy?less than ten minutes away from me. Quote
chillumpuffer Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 My picks for The Open which tees off tomorrow: Graeme Mcdowell Justin Rose Jason Day Outside bet Tiger. He won this when it was last at Hoylake. Kept his driver in the bag. If he is fit and focused he may do well. The new lad Jordan Speith. I think he will find the links course a wake up call playing in testing conditions. Believe me if the forecast is correct, then it may spill over into another day. Thunder is on the cards from Friday onwards and it will be HOT Quote
