Why don't you grow a pair Larry with that New England Pick

Heh, I may be crazy, but I ain't stupid. :P Trust me, nobody would be happier than me to see the Patriots fall, but my brain tells me the Pats are still the class of that division. How I would love to be proven wrong, but they still have that dude named Brady.

They will be picked until the day comes when they are dethroned. And the day is near IMO. Its a team sport. Manning and Brady cannot win it all on their own talent. I hope Manuel can play opening day. If he can, it could be a shocker to many people

Looks like Terrell Pryor is going to be the Raiders QB this season over Matt Flynn. Can't say as I blame them...what the fuck has Flynn ever done?

It will be interesting to see if Colin K and Russell Wilson have the same impact this year, now that NFL teams have had all year to study the tape and try to devise schemes to contain them. Many running QBs will have success when they first arrive but then falter as the defenses wise up to them.

Too early for me to make my prognostications. Cannot wait for next week, though, as all my other teams(Angels, Lakers) are in the shitter. Only the LA Kings give me hope for the winter.

Watch out for those Clippers Sean

You watch out for them, hahaha. They'll always be the San Diego Clippers/Buffalo Braves to me. It's Los Angeles Lakers only for me when it comes to the NBA.

You must realize that this year they wont be anywhere close to the talent the Clippers have. anyway, I have to get back to football in keeping with the rules here. Go Bills!!!!!!!!

Alrighty then. After preseason ends, I'll introduce the NFLZ Sportsbook thread. Very simple premise.

1- everyone is spotted 1000 points at the beginning of the season.

2- you choose one game of your choice per week vs. the spread. You do not have to pick every week.

3- you choose the amount of points you're willing to invest in each game. If you run out of points, your season is history.

Of course the object is to finish the season with the most points.

Let's say I pick Miami and Miami beats the spread vs Cleveland week one by a td. Here's how the format looks:

Week 1

1000 (your current point total)

Miami -3 Cleveland (the line you use on your pick, be it early in the week or gameday)

200/ Miami (points I'm risking and team I pick)

Week 2

1200 (current point total)

etc.

etc.

Everyone is responsible for keeping up with their own totals.

This make sense and are y'all interested?

Sounds good to me. As for Strider and his excitement, how the hell can we be excited when our teams are the Bills and Raiders dude?

I am going off the rails. Just put $5 into the wind. $5 will get me $500 if Buffalo wins the Super Bowl. Ha. WTF. Remember those 99 Rams? Worst to first. And I may put a couple on them too. My serious pick is Seattle. Like their chances. I am really interested to see how Revis helps Tampa. And if that trouble maker Jarius Byrd comes through for us. He is starting shit. Well, he is wearing the Buffalo this year and he best get used to it.

The great thing about it, is we have a little over a week before all or most of our questions will be answered? I'm really wondering about that Miami offense, how will it look, will they score some points? Cleveland will be far from a pushover. And how will my Green Bay pick look after Week 1? So many questions, can't wait 'til the gridiron kicks off.

I almost forgot Miami is your team. Just like my youngest daughter's boyfriend. They used to be our biggest rivalry. But with New England's dominance in the divisioin for about a decade, its pretty much died out. It could be resurrected one of these days. The Jets are being picked last in every site and magazine I have seen. The Jets are gettting zero respect. At least alot of them are picking either Buffalo or Miami for second. A day will come, when New England's day comes to an end. It has already started its decline. The Bills and Dolphins are the two that you can look to to end the dominance. Only question is, which one will it be?

BREAKING NEWS: The NFL reaches a $765 million settlement in its concussion suit. http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=9612138&src=desktop

You might say "too little too late" but it's a start. However, the NFL escaped with this little clause in the settlement:

One of the principal terms of the settlement is that the agreement "cannot be considered, an admission by the NFL of liability, or an admission that plaintiffs' injuries were caused by football."

Meanwhile, in this preseason full of injuries, I'm sitting here watching Pittsburgh and Kansas City play overtime in a meaningless preseason game. WTF?!? Why on earth would you risk further injury and ask your players to take more hits by playing overtime in preseason? It's idiotic!

Further proof that the NFLPA is one of the worst players unions in sports.

I did not watch any of the game or any of Buffalo's preseason games, but I did check the stats. And it appears Leinert stunk out the joint. So it appears his NFL career is toast. Its too bad. So its take our ass whipping until Manuel is ready. I am sure hoping he beats the schedule and plays in the opener but it just seems unlikely that someone could play so soon after surgery. Even if it was minor. The line went from 7 to 11 when the news broke. If Manuel had been healthy they could have beat New England I believe. If the defense were to shine maybe they still could? But its highly unlikely. New England can expect to see a different Buffalo team the second time around. And that may be a long way off. I guess it wont even matter. We do not see them again until the last game of the season. 4 days after Xmas in New England and you know what usually happens last game. Its called, if you are in you sit everyone to keep them healthy for the playoffs. If you are out, it matters not anyway. Unless by some miracle the game really does mean something and we are playing for a spot.I know nothing about this non draftee player. Nothing. Well, here is his big chance. Remember the strike? When they had bartenders kicking field goals and playing QB? What a fiasco.

Front of sports page in Buffalo News "Bills feed backups to Lions". Ha. Truly. Some are calling for doom and gloom. But they do not realize they played 22 backups. It was not the Bills. One guy said Leniert should be on the next flight to So Cal and Rob Johnson has an opening in his floral shop.

Tebow cut by Pats....there's your qb, Rick!

No thanks. And not surprised. Nice side show Belichek. When Manuel suits up you wont be joking. I am even more surprised Sanchez has not been cut. What a joke he is. My first week parlays include Seattle, Tampa, Wash and St Louis

I do not think Kolb will ever play football again.

He shouldn't at least, that's for sure. Your optimism for the Bills never changes at the beginning of the season, does it? Total respect for that, I'm the same way. I still remember you having that video clip of TO after he signed with Buffalo and you thought he would be that player to put you over the top. Time flies.... Good luck to your Bills, Rick. They were my dad's favorite team also.

God bless him. And I just read <Manuel is practicing. If he goes, get ready to turn a page perhaps in the AFC East power. A monster shift could be in the order.

Read a couple of blogs where a few speculated that the Bills might sign Greg McElroy.

You heard anything about this Rick?

No. The big news is Manuel may actually start. Meaning it might be possible to beat New England. I assure you the line will drop 4 pts if they announce Manuel will start. They have all but done it already. Front page of Buffalo News

Spiller needs to open with a bang. He could be New Englands worst nightmare. If he can gain yards and keep the ball out of Brady's hands, look out. So now Prisco, CBS sportsline's Guru, is on the Carolina wagon for them to be the best sleeper, along with the Rams. I agree with the Rams. I am not sold on Carolina. Why not the Bills? Why not? Manuel certainly looked more than impressive. Unless Belechek has a mission to try and injure him. I do not trust that sneaky little bastard. Here's to the Bills!!!!

Denver is getting alot of respect. Maybe a bit too much. As for New England, every dog has his day, and that old puppy is about due to get collared. The NFC central is mystifying. I could see any one of the four winning it. I like Detroit to finally come through. I just get the feeling either Detroit or Minnesota will knock off favored Green Bay.

The South is another good Division. NFC I mean. Still feel Atlanta is the best, but Tampa should be tough and maybe Carolina will be good. On offense they should be. New Orleans? Will be interesting to see if Sean Peyton's return is going to win them the division. I will stick with the Falcons.

To me Washington is the team to beat in the East but there is alot of mystery to the other three teams. The Eagles could be tough with a new coach. The Giants are always tough. Dallas? Will Romo finally have a big season and get it done? I think the Redskins have too much.

If there is a sleeper in the AFC South it has to be Tennessee. And now that Norv Turner is finally gone, the Chargers may play better.
