tyedye
I was fortunate enough to come across the LZ issue of MOJO magazine yesterday. Here is a quote from Jimmy Page in that aritcle. Page 78: I have enough material for a solo record, but I haven't recorded anything. The music has many facets to it, and a lot of character. There are some bits where you'd say, "That's definitely Jimmy", and some of it is really intense and dense. But I'm going to wait until the new year until I make any decision. When this gig came up, I wanted to put all my energies into that. At the moment I'm told we're doing one gig. That a bit unfortunate for all the people that would've like to have seen us, but I can understand why some of the other members don't want to be touring. I'm sympathetic to that. But the first rehearsals made it clear we should be doing this now.

Stratcat
How many years in a row has he said this now? It has been quite a few years now I think Jimmy is hoping Plant will come back and record new music with him. On the down side, it looks like Plant has other plans, that do not include Jimmy or a full fledged Led Zeppelin Reunion.

The Baroness Von Zeppelin
I think Jimmy is hoping Plant will come back and record new music with him. On the down side, it looks like Plant has other plans, that do not include Jimmy or a full fledged Led Zeppelin Reunion. I was wondering that as well. Maybe he's hoping to use this material as new Zeppelin material (which might explain his holding back on the solo project), but he's waiting to see if the others are up for it. MCM
I just picked this issue up the other day, (its the December 2007) it is a good spread on Zeppelin, good articles and photos. If you see it, I'd buy it.
LiseKathleen
I want to hear this new music...they don't have to tour. Jimmy seems to do most of the studio work anyway. I wont understand if it doesnt get done. We all have to work.
SIBLY
Whilst I don't find much of RP's work post Zeppelin essential he has a least carried on ploughing his furrow and there have been some high points (Honeydrippers & Krauss), Jimmy is lost without LZ where as, RP is happier doing his own thing. The Firm & CP have even less high points and all he's tried to do is LZ with a diferent singer.
mos6507
all he's tried to do is LZ with a diferent singer. You make that sound like it's a bad thing. Also remember that Zeppelin was really Jimmy's mad scientist idea of a supergroup version 2 after he couldn't really get it going with the Yardbirds. The very last days of The Yardbirds were pretty much identical to the very first days of Zeppelin, at least in musical intent.

The very last days of The Yardbirds were pretty much identical to the very first days of Zeppelin, at least in musical intent. The reality has been that it is a bad thing. But, for me, most of RP's post LZ career has been a bad thing. Something other worldly and magical happened when LZ originally played together. Unbelievably, it still seems to happens with son of JB in the mix. I think the individual beings fail to capture it.
SIBLY
Led Zep weren't a super group either (even though they are a super group!). Surely, a super group is made up of established stars and none of them where that. Even if JP & JPJ were renown session players.
kdh
Great review. Now one can see the conveyor belt of expectation being pushed upon the band.
