Michael678 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 today marks the 42nd anniversary of the release of LZ's masterpiece: the one with no official title. I'd like to see the celebration and ur thoughts on the album in this topic!! Quote
The Dark Lord Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) It's the one that really kicked off my life long relationship with Zeppelin. Iconic. Edited November 9, 2013 by The Dark Lord Quote
Walter Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 It's the one that really kicked off the mystique of Led Zeppelin. What a masterpiece collection of songs! Throw in the songs that were held until PG and you really have an eclectic group! Quote
in_the_evening Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Black Dog was the kicker for me. I think when I first listened to this album, I had not heard much of Zep. I was pretty much awed that a group could make music like this! Great stuff, still stands the test of time very very well. Quote
slave to zep Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 just saw this on facebook and thought i'd post it here ( it's all stuff most us know ) http://www.led-zeppelin.org/current-news/1517-10-things-you-didn-t-know-about-the-untitled-album Quote
slave to zep Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 i love this album, and i disagree with the assumption that many have that four sticks is a "weak " song. i bloody love it, have since the very first listen in, i think , about 1974ish when i was 12. i always felt it was "other-worldly" sounding, and i fell in love with it and the whole album. Cecil. Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) Great music and a wonderful cover to look at while listening. Edited November 9, 2013 by Cecil. Quote

The song that I did think was different was Rock and Roll, maybe because I first heard it on the TSRTS album. Quote

I totally agree. The song is very special and ethereal. If I had to give up one song on the album it would be Black Dog, although it was my favorite back in the day. Insanemfer Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I remember as a teenager trippin' on acid (I was never accused of being a smart teen) and putting the needle down on side 2. I remember freaking out while listening to Four Sticks at the end when Plant moans to close out the track. To this day, I still think of that moment when I listen to Four Sticks. Far from being a weak tune. Quote
Disco Duck Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 What strikes me is that 42 years later, how many people still revere this album. It has stood the test of time and then some. Quote
