Reggie29 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 After reading many comics from about 10 years old and after watching most of all the movies made about Super Heroes, I have always favoured Marvel. Alexander and Ilya Salkind's Superman with Marlon Brando and Christopher Reeves set the bar and was followed by Tim Burton's Batman with Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton. It was rumoured that Robin Williams was to play the part of The Riddler that was ultimately and ably played by Jim Carrey. There are many more and please feel to discuss. The Avengers have turned it around and while Marvel had lost it for quite a while, they gained momentum when they got serious about the movies with Iron Man. As a kid Thor was the one for me but they were all good. Since there are too many to mention, talk about your preferences. This is not who's better than who, because as far as the original comic format goes they were as good as each other. Marvel Stan Lee / Jack Kirby / Steve Ditko - The Avengers, Spiderman etc. D C Bob Kane - Batman Jerry Seigel / Joe Shuster - Superman Special mention: Lee Falk - The Phantom. Quote
redrum Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Jerry Seigel / Joe Shuster - Superman I read in The New Yorker where these guys really got screwed by the powers that be and a sleazy lawyer. I loved the early Superman cartoons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYqov4F8YRw Quote
wanna be drummer Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Watchmen, to me, is the greatest graphic novel of all time, as well as the greatest comic book movie of all time... So I vote DC Quote
Strider Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Frankly, most of the DC and Marvel comic book movies leave me cold. Only the Christopher Nolan Batman-Dark Knight movies and the first Iron Man resonated with me as successful adaptations and quality fims in their own right. Other standouts for me are graphic novel adaptations: "Ghost World", "Blue is the Warmest Colour", and "Ghost in the Shell". Quote
