justanotherbum
Hello everyone this is my first post here. =) In my post Zep collection of Robert Plant I have the I Believe CD single import from the UK on Fontana records 862 427 2 fatex 2. It says part 2 of CD single set. Now for quite awhile (because I didn't remember when I bought these) I didn't know what part 1 of this 2 part set was. So I then started looking at my 12" singles collection and there it was the I believe 12" picture disc from the UK on Fontana records 862 427 1 fate 212. So because of those 7 digit numbers being so close I assumed that the 12" single and the CD were parts 1 and 2 of this set. Is that correct? Please let me know if I am wrong. Now I have another I Believe CD single but it is from Japan on Fontana PHCR-8037 that says part 2 of the previous single double cd set. Does anyone know what this previous single double cd set was? Please help me out here! There is a good chance that the second part on this set is a 12" picture disc similar to the one available in the UK but I have seen nothing about it either on google or ebay so if it is not what was the previous double cd set? Also I have another CD single from the UK for If I were a carpenter on Fontana 858 071 -2 which also says that its part 2 of a 2 part set but I have no idea what part 1 was? Again can somone help me out here? I hope that there are some Led/Zep collectors out there from the UK and Japan that can help out. Also on a side note I had thought that I was pretty much up to date and complete in the Robert Plant 7" promos collection then a wrench was thrown in the works and I found out there were variations. On most it not all the 7" there was an AR pressing and then a SP pressing. The AR pressings were the same as on the LPs except one side was mono and the other stereo. The SP pressings have a short version on one seide and a long extended version on the other. When I starting collecting Mr Plant back in the eighties I was getting these singles for either free or for at most $1 and on eBay now they want ridiculous amounts of money for them, Anyway Thanks for the long read and hope to hear from some other collectors out there! justanotherbum
Sorry it took me a minute to figure out how to reply. Anyway a BIG THANKS goes out to you guys for this info. reswati if part one came in a cardboard sleeve and part 2 in a jewel case? If that cardboard sleeve is just a single sleeve then I have it. If it is a tri-fold cardboard sleeve then I don't. jtm it looks like 29 palms is in a cardboard sleeve in the picture but I am not sure, help me out. My 29 Palms UK import has the number 862 235-2 and I don't remember if I bought them shrink wrapped together or not. Is your 29 Palms a CD picture disc? My UK import 29 Palms is not a picture disc and it came in a jewel case. Funny thing is my US issue of 29 Palms is in a cardboard sleve. Also on the Japanese import of 29 Palms that I have the number is PCHR-8034 so could this be the first part of my I Believe Japanese cd 2 part set? None of these are CD picture discs. Sorry to seem like a twit but when I bought these I opened played and recorded them to cassette and put them in a box for safe keeping. I just got them out of storage from my moms house. Now on my JP-RP Gallows Pole UK imports it's easy to tell what is what because they are numbered properly. PP104 and PP105. One is a tri-fold gatefold cardboard cover and the other comes in a jewel case. There is a disc missing in the tri-fold for the RP cd picture disc and the JP cd picture disc is in the Tri-fold. I guess back in the day I was buying up anything related to Led Zep as I just found a Gallows Pole CD from Australia. Thanks again guys I think I'm going to love this place! Sems Fir
The 29 Palms is a cardboard sleeve with a picture disc image of the cardboard cover. For the U.K. it's Fated 1. For INT it's 862 237-2. For the I Believe it's also a picture disc with a image of a cargo ship sinking under the ocean water. For the U.K. it's Fatex 2. For INT it's 862 427-2. My example of I Believe shown above came in a jewel case. If you need any extra images to compare please let me know. justanotherbum
I see the discs on this page http://www.vjez.com/zep/default.asp?pagina=rpcds I am surprised that there were so many versions of that one. I bought mine at Tower Records when they were released and I don't remember seeing a tri fold sleeve edition. I bought an example of all editions of 29 Palms that they had including the UK, Japan import and American CD singles and a UK import vinyl 45. Kind of bummed that I didn't see the tri fold though. Makes me wonder if my Japan imports are the set or if there was a tri fold available in that set also? On that page there is only one listing for a regular release from Japan and then a promo.
