So why don't we get some more people here on board for my idea? It won't take alot of work. We each pick a team in all the divisions. We get a point for every win. You can pick any team you want in each division and then we will pick the playoffs once they start. Why don't we have an extra 50 pt bonus for those that can predict the World Series winnner? And another 50 if you can correctly pick the two teams that will meet in the series. I will await some feedback. Maybe Paul and Strider and Jabe and Ally will have some idea's to contribute? And anyone else I may not be bringing to mind. No disrespect to any of my friends I may have forgot to mention. JB126 and Walter of course, I would like your feedback. Walter you may want to help run it?

I think you have a good idea, but I'm guessing you won't hear much feedback on it now, we are still in January & Spring Training hasn't even started yet. Maybe as the regular season draws closer, there will be some more people ready to jump on board...

I think that the Saint Louis Cardinals will be back this year with a certain and Strong Vengeance and Resolve to be back in the lead of the National League and will make it back to the 2014 World Series. I think that whoever their opponent is, the StL. Cardinals are going to win the 2014 World Series. Mark My Words.

The Saint Louis Cardinals are (in My opinion), the most consistent and Dominating team in Major League Baseball. (I am referring to nowadays, and not to the very distant past, which has "historically" belonged to the New York Yankees).

The Saint Louis Cardinals will be in this years World Series and will win it.

Well we should have the contest and you will have your chance to pick them. I agree with Walter and we can do it and it will not require daily attention

You just never know what you're gonna get from a Japanese pitcher. They had to do something to inject some life in that pitching staff. Btw, have you all seen the pictures of the incredible shrinking man - CC Sabathia??? He's lost A LOT of weight!

Cano's departure has to hurt the bastards. Has to. Everyone get ready for that contest. We will all pick a team in each division. count their total wins, and add them up. And then we will pick who goes to the series and wins. 50 pts for each. If anyone has anything to add, be my guest?

^^ Sounds good to me, the contest.

As for the upcoming season, I'm wondering how the Nationals will bounce back or if they will bounce back after last year's disappointing season. On paper, it would seem like they have the pitching to carry them to a division title, but the Braves will always be in the mix. You can almost always count on the Braves to be near the top in the regular season then do squat in the playoffs. Kind of reminds me of the Bengals....

I'm thinking pick 5 teams, either league, add up their wins - but you get to drop the lowest team, so everyone gets a "mulligan" so to speak. This should probably be just regular season though. So basically add up the wins for the 4 teams you pick, who have the most wins.

That or we could go with a +/- score, meaning add up all the wins and subtract all the loses and whoever has the highest + score, wins.

Just some ideas.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Dodgers ownership is certainly trying to buy their way to a pennant & World Series championship. One day it might actually work....

Back in the 70's the Dodgers and Orioles were the best teams for bringing up talent grown in their farm systems. Now the Yankees have forced the hands of so many teams to go against their former principals. No A Rod. Hope they lose 100

Just saw John Farrell on ESPN First Take & I got to say, I like the Sawx's chances of capturing the AL East again. No doubt, there will be some stiff competition from Tampa and Baltimore & I don't know if the Yanks will be losing 100 games, but they should be in the East cellar this year.

I believe Boston overachieved and I do not think they can do it again. I like my Orioles chances.

Well no one can accuse the Tigers of standing pat. Fister is traded, Infante is gone, Kinsler is here, Fat Fuck is gone, and a new manager too. But all that means nothing compared to the acquisition of Joe Nathan. I don't think anyone watching last year's playoffs could accuse the Tiger's starting pitching of not carrying the load. All hell broke lose in the 7-9th innings. Nathan has been so tough on the Tigers in the past that we're due to win 5 more games just because he's on our team....he's like 40-0 for saves against the Tigs.

I'm going to miss Jim Leyland. Dude was pure old school baseball. He ran a clean clubhouse, and had the respect of every player. The one thing I'll never forget is when they reported how Jim grabbed the mike at a party to do some Karaoke....he blew everyone away by doing some Marvin Gaye to a tee ! People had their jaws dropped, and it was featured on every local news channel. He had an apartment downtown during the season, and he walked to the Greektown casino all the time. Not necessarily to gamble, but to smoke Marlboros like a fiend without anyone getting on his case.

I was not aware he was gone. Leyland. Well if you read this, do you think the Tigers will be favored to win the Central? So Fielder is gone? It is hard to keep track of all the movement in the off season. I am wondering if anyone has signed Arroyo yet?

Fielder was traded to Texas. He's also reportedly lost a ton of weight....which is about what he had to lose. Don't mean to be too hard on the guy...maybe last year's problems will be a turning point in his career. I wish him luck, but he's still not a 1st baseman....DH all the way. Tigers are favored to win the Central, and if we don't win it all, this team will be broken up, and Cabrera will be the first to go. I'm starting to wonder if the snow pack will even be gone be Opening Day....what a Winter !

My plowman has been here more this winter than the last two combined. Tons of snow here too. Its all coming from Michigan. LOL. I sure hope the Orioles are serious to want to win this year. I am thinking they are riding alot of their hopes on Bundy coming through? Notice they are mentioned in every big discussion of pitchers up for grabs. But so far, the other guys have paid the money and landed them. Like Arroyo. Gone. But to me, no great loss. As for Prince, he is landing in a great place. Texas. So he should be in the playoffs again? I expect the Angels and Blue Jays, the two big busts of last year to improve. But will it be enough to get in? I think Baltimore is in great shape. I like the Oakland closer more than Johnson. Now he can blow saves for the A's instead of us. The Mariners have certainly made alot fo noise off the field. Will it translate onto the field? I say yes.
