Cookie0024
Not a new performance, but a unique one that never got its own thread before. Robert Plant played a 2-hour unannounced set last year in New Orleans when he stopped by BJ's Bar with some of The Sensational Space Shifters. There have been four videos posted, although one has since been removed. No audio recording has been shared. (A fourth video taken by Travis Cleaver has since been removed) Guests including actor Craig Robinson arrived early in the night, claiming that Robert Plant would be playing (which was news to the bar staff). Sure enough, Robert Plant arrived at 11pm with some members of The Sensational Space Shifters, namely Justin Adams and Billy Fuller. Li'l Band O'Gold frontman C.C. Adcock, who parked his blue Cadillac nearby, was on the phone giving directions to Robert's group, who arrived shortly after he did. The bar tried to get him to come through the back entrance, but he insisted on arriving through the front door, apparently saying that he "wanted to see his people." At 11.30pm Robert took to the stage to sit in with Guitar Lightnin' Lee and his Thunder Band who were playing their second scheduled set of the night, filling in for King James and the Special Men. Robert was apparently on backing vocals, then moved to center-stage, eventually coming off stage at 1.30am. The bar doesn't play music past that time, so the bartender had to hold up a sign to get Robert to stop singing. Another account has Robert leaving the stage before the final song, then taking a video of the performance on his phone. Robert can be seen in some photos taking pics, although neither the video or those photos taken by him have surfaced. Known songs played: Hip Shake (without Robert Plant or The Sensational Space Shifters) Sugar Coated Love Got Love If You Want It Lonely Lonely Nights Hoochie Coochie Man I Can't Quit You Baby (part) Ramble On (part) Ooh Poo Pah Doo Let The Good Times Roll (without Robert, presumably Justin Adams on lead vocals) Press coverage: Offbeat, nola.com, Ultimate Classic Rock If anyone has more photos or videos of this night, it would be great to share them!
