kaztor (slight return) Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Okay people, I just knew you were waiting for me to start it, but here it is: THE FRANK ZAPPA THREAD! Talk about anything ZAPPA in here!! Quote
leddy Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I have a mate at work that has all his 60 or so albums and he played me the Apostrophe cd and I thought it was great !! in fact really interesting. I heard one of his earlier and latter day albums and was not so keen, but the mid 70's period to me sounds good even if I am a bit green on him !! Quote
kaztor (slight return) Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 Ain't this the coolest shirt !!! I want that. Quote
DoubleNecker Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Zappa wappa nappa tappa? Yes indeedy, mr. deed. I enjoy Frank a lot. He's badass. I've heard Apostrophe ('), Hot Rats, The Grand Wazoo, We're Only In It For The Money, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Uncle Meat (I love the hell out of this one), Weasels Ripped My Flesh (same here!), Imaginary Diseases, and You Can't Do That Onstage Anymore Vol. 2. Frank was a genius. His time on earth was too short. Quote

KashmirDevi Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 You're probably wondering Why I'm here.... it cuz I love Zappa, a true genius amazing musician. I first got into Zappa in high school when I was about 16. Dying to see Zappa does Zappa. Quote
The Rover Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 DVD Full Live Performances Tracks 1. Dinah-Moe Humm 2. I'm the Slime 3. Montana 4. St Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast 5. Dirty Love 6. As ever, the program uses interviews, musical demonstrations, rare archive and home movie footage, plus live performances to tell the story behind the conception and recording of these groundbreaking albums. Charles_Obscure Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Hi there... I need some information about the new Wazoo cd, released on October 31... I heard the audio clip on zappa.com, but there's not much information about it, except for the tracklist, which is delightful... So, if someone could help me out on this issue... Thank ya... Quote

DoubleNecker Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I'm gonna be listening to Roxy & Elsewhere soon. Can't wait. Quote
leddy Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 "Frank Zappa and the Mothers were at the best place around, but some stupid with a flare gun burnt the place to the ground....Smoke on the Water A fire in the sky" Name checked in one of the greatest rock songs is no mean feat !!! Quote

It's weird: I haven't read a THING in the Zep forums about Robert Plant (Planet!) being namechecked on the Fillmore East album... Perhaps you palls are a bit cynical about that one? Quote
DoubleNecker Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 I hate to say it, but since I have no money, mostly all of my Zappa was downloaded. But my birthday is coming, I might get Weasels. If they don't have that, I'll think of another. Quote
DoubleNecker Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Did you listen to Roxy and Elsewhere yet ? That's gotta be tops for me...first time to see him and all...same band. Not yet. Even though it's in R for my album project, I wont' be listening to it tonight. I can, but I don't want to. I'll listen to it tomorrow along with Cream at the Royal Albert Hall. Quote
DoubleNecker Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 2005 show. I'd like to get the one you mentioned though. Quote
DoubleNecker Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Roxy & Elsewhere was pretty badass. This might become one of my favorite Zappa albums....I wish it wasn't so long, though. Quote
Charles_Obscure Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 So... Nobody can light my lantern about the new Wazoo cd?? Quote
kaztor (slight return) Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 That's an odd wish. I like that it's almost a full cd, afterall it was a double album. Zappa albums can't be long enough. Hell, I even think Läther's too short! Quote
DoubleNecker Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Sheik Yerbouti was pretty cool, but so far, I prefer Roxy & Elsewhere. Quote
MrsRobertPlant Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I absolutely love Frank Zappa. I'm so glad I have friends in my new school that actually KNOW who he is I was working at the school store, and someone gave me a Montana quarter and I broke out in song. Brilliant! I still love We're Only In It For the Money, ZOOT ALLURE! Quote
kaztor (slight return) Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Just finished reading this Zappa Bible again... It's essential reading for every true fan! Quote
