Administrators sam_webmaster Posted July 24, 2014 Administrators Posted July 24, 2014 John Paul Jones is regularly participating in the Festival International Mandolines de Lunel since its creation in 2004 : in 2013, at the 10th Anniversary edition, he has been consecrated Godfather of the festival, joining Mike Marshall (Godfather since 2006) and Hamilton de Holanda (Godfather since 2008). Cofa Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 What an absolute Top Guy he is! One of the biggest rock stars in the World yet so unassuming and humble. Quote
Matjaz1 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) Was this recorded in his house? It looks a bit like the place, in the back, where his wife cooks in TSRTS and he sasy: Tour dates! This is tomorrow! Edited July 24, 2014 by Matjaz1 Quote

I don't think so as he refers to 'here' when talking about the festival and the date of the interview corresponds to the date of the festival last year. I suspect it is in France. Quote
Deborah J Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Awesome interview. As always, class act all the way. I think the title fits :-) Quote
WLL4LZ Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Excellent interview. Felt like I was right there chatting with him. What a lovely man. Thanks Sam. Quote
Darlas y Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 How does a talented musician have to search for festivals on internet? It´s sad and unfair and... beyond words. Such a humble and good natured soul he is, Mr. Baldwin. Quote
nirvana Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Thank you John...for being you. You Never let the fame-fortune-and folly get the best of your gentle and humble soul. Unlike so many along the way. You are the finest example of an artist and craftsman. Quote

Don't worry JPJ doesn't have to search too far for places to play or people to play with. Quote
ccrider Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Yes! Very incredible musician! I don't think there IS anything he can't play!!! Quote
Mook Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Where's the bit where the Mandolin gets interviewed? Quote
azad Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Great interview, and what a musician he is. Although I haven't met the man, from what I have heard, he is a wonderful soul. Hats off to you JPJ. Quote
Sathington Willoughby Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Where's the bit where the Mandolin gets interviewed? Cheeky... Quote

Mook Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 8 days a week, I loooooooove you, 8 days a week, is not enough to show I care... Quote
azad Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 8 days a week, I loooooooove you, 8 days a week, is not enough to show I care... JPJ playing that on Mandolin. Yeah, I can hear that. Quote
The Dark Lord Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 JPJ has got to be the most down to earth rock musician of his era. Truly the guy next door. As a 35 year Zep fan I should know this, but in the limited appearances of mandolin in Zep tunes, did JPJ always play, or did Jimmy have any mandolin moments on record? Quote

Hi TDL, Jimmy played mandolin on The Battle of Evermore. He wrote the song having never played mandolin before, after picking up JPJ's mandolin and then writing the song on the spot. He gave a taste of just the mandolin part in IMGL when he is sitting outside Headley Grange. Quote
