60blues
The words " better than" don't exist in my musical realm. I love the guitar so much that I love what each and every one of these players have brought into my life through their music.... Jimmy Page, Johnny Winter, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher, Garry Moore, James Burton, Roy Buchanan, Duane Allman, Hubert Sumlin, and i could go on.... Mook
John Mclaughlin is my favourite guitarist & I reckon he'll be one of Jimmy Page's as well, I think Jimmy took some tips off him in the 60s when they were doing sessions.
ClashWho
Just Pete Townshend. He seems to save his best playing for the concert stage, though. Jimmy Page is better in the studio.
Maaike Roeleveld
Mmm....., I also am one who will not say one guitar player is better than the other. It is music, not a competition, it's a matter of personal preference/taste. My favourites, besides Jimmy, include Brian May, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck and Eric Claption. Different players, with different styles, but all equally inspirational. I'd also like to mention some dutch favourites (well..., I am a dutchie after all....): Adrian Vanderberg (Whitesnake, Vanderberg), George Kooymans (Golden Earring), Jan Akkerman (Focus) and Pablo van der Poel (DeWolff). Trey
Hendrix for sure. What he did was unique and no-one channeled themselves through the guitar like him. Page and others were amazing guitar players but Hendrix sounded otherworldly and an extra dimension to his playing. Machine gun live 1970 is unparalleled.
