Administrators sam_webmaster Posted December 23, 2014 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2014 New information sent in to LZ.com from the former Social Secretary of the college, (B. Clark), indicates this date took place on October 26, 1968. (Some rumours of this appearance attribute this date occurring on November 2, 1968). Possibly a leftover booking from the Yardbirds, they were billed as The "New" Yardbirds, paid £175 for 2 x 45 min spots. At the band's request, it was changed to one longer set. Clark: "Marcus Bicknell was the booker - he’d also booked me RP and the Band of Joy earlier that year in March, as support to Herbie Goins. When the Yardbirds split, he offered me a choice of Keith Relf’s Renaissance or the as yet unnamed Jimmy Page band - I took Renaissance on the grounds they would sell more tickets - but they weren’t together in time so we switched to LZ instead. What a lucky break!" (Dec. 2014) http://www.ledzeppelin.com/show/ewell-tech-college-october-26-1968

Strider
Always cool to get new information on Led Zeppelin gigs. Especially from the murky 1968-69 period pre-Led Zeppelin I, when they were sort of flying under the radar and record keeping and media reports weren't always accurate...or even available. SteveAJones
A great revelation. As a by the way, I've mentioned in the Zeppelin Mysteries Thread that John Paul Jones allegedly performed on organ with Herbie Goins and the Nightimers while on breaks from doing sessions in the mid-sixties. Unfortunately, there was no response to an inquiry sent quite some time ago to Mr. Goins seeking confirmation/further details. http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/308-zeppelin-mysteries-hosted-by-steve-a-jones/page-148?hl=%2Bherbie+%2Bgoins#entry423855 Edited December 24, 2014 by SteveAJones
