I need a Led Zeppelin support group

Recommended Posts

In the days of my youth, I was all about Led Zeppelin.

Zep this. Zep that. Sang in the car. Air guitared myself into a froth. Boned girls to it, etc.

But then I suppose I reached that age where I tried to move on to other things as best I could.

Sure, this site sucked me back in a little bit, and I was skeptical of this whole O2 thing.

But now I can't stop thinking about it, just like I'm back in fucking high school or something, and I'm forty fucking four years old, dammit!

I am helpless and powerless to stop thinking about it. I'm thinking about selling a kidney on Ebay just on the off chance I need to spend a whole lotta money to get to some Zep gig that might not ever occur.

My wife doesn't understand me. She left me for a Foo Fighters fan.

I've bottomed out.

I need Led Zeppelin Anonymous, and might just file a lawsuit against the band and this forum for not administering Led Zep information in a responsible, moderate fashion.

There, I've said it.

Please help.

:(

LMFAO! I am sooo there, bro. So shamefully there...

I feel your pain, I am a mother of two a 13 year old diva, and a 11 year old who thinks Panic at the Disco? is the best thing since apple pie, however, for me the music now and days totally sucks, I listen to Zeppelin in my car, I can't get the dvd's out the player much to my kids dismay, and keep thinking back to June 19, 1977 when I had the priveledge of being in the same arena watching the THUNDER OF THE GODS!

Sooo someone in Tucson totally feels your pain!

lol I laughed at this thread as well, however I fear I suffer the same fate...

I pray a tour will be annouced and I am not one for praying... lol

Not only that... but Canadian Tour Dates and one in the Maritimes!!!!!! (Moncton NB can hold up to 100,000 in an outdoor venue, the Stones played there last year, was amazing)

We can only hope...

These posts got me to thinking a bit more. What if 12 steps is not enough to assuage our appetite for Zepp?

What if we still need therapy?

What about a continuing ed. program?

We know how people over the years have flocked to Bron-Yr-Aur to try to pick up on the vibe where many masterpieces were created.

If Zepp created new material, this could be a reality.

Bron-Yr-Aur is out.

Zepp needs to create new material stateside.Maybe where those flaccid troubadours held the Viva Viagra sessions. That place looks pretty cool on TV.

But hey,no soft rock.....right?

He he he he. Now that's funny. I became a LedZeppelin-Website-Junkie myself.

Went to REHAB. DIDN'T WORK. Then there is this aching - gnawing feeling that tells me - Go back and talk Led Zeppelin - It does not matter To Whom or Why.

Then I go out for a breather, take a nap. I end up dreaming that I was one of the LedZep groupies.

Here, as soon as I am back ---Hmmmmmm - Man I'm in LED ZEPPELIN HEAVEN.

omg I'm so happy I'm not alone. roflmao--

Yesterday I thought I'd take a drive to get out of the house and I drove out into the desert to this spot where they've dug a big like 50'x50' hole for capturing flood water. Well they started to build a chain link fence but apparantly ran out money after they put the poles in----

and so I'm out there and the wind kicks up and wouldn't ya know there's no cap on these poles and they all start whistlin--like the champagne glasses do--It was pretty loud and howling

man it was awesome to say the least!! and of course did nothing for getting Zeppelin in concert off my mind!!

Did think I should get out there with a recorder of some kind.

I'm trying to get my finger on just WHY this show was so mesmerizing and awe-inspiring. I expected it to be just OK, but it was so much more than that.

I certainly didn't feel that way the first time I saw The Song Remains the Same. I thought the fantasy scenes were cheesy and the performances kind of subpar. And I was like 16 the first time I saw it, back around 1979 or something, at a midnight movie.

There was something more dark and powerful - and different - with O2.

Opening with Good Times, Bad Times was brilliant. It was like a beast knocking on the door, and it came off very powerful live.

BOOM! BOOM!

BOOM! BOOM!

Everything just sounded huge, and they brought the wild mayhem that I really liked from the pre-SRTHS-era performances I've caught here and there.

To my surprise, this whole thing ADVANCED their legacy, not just repackaged it, from the mystery and stuff right after the announcement to the broken finger to the performance to being able to follow the show through online posting to the YouTube videos to the wild speculation and questions in the aftermath.

In summary, it was a new and unique Led Zeppelin experience, and I sure as fuck did not expect that.

It's going to be very hard for this band to sit down and figure out if they can pull off a "what comes next" kind of thing, because, by gawd, they might have made a statement at O2 that's best left hanging for all eternity.

Or maybe they've got something else up their sleeves.

Only time will tell ...

Now you need to come to believe that a power greater than yourself (no, not Jimmy Page) will restore you to sanity.

Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute, it was turning my life over to the flummoxing power of Page that saved me from previous issues.

Do you mean to say there's MORE?

Tell you what HotCods...this is a pretty killer show. I now have 3 versions of it and am listing to v.2 IMTOD...and it fucking rocks !! I can't pinpoint it...but maybe..even maybe it's Jason....he's so good on it. Different than his dad, I wouldn't try to say he copied him on his playing...but his attack is special...dunno...hard to pinpoint. But I've listened to this show now 5 or 6 times, different versions each time and I'm diggin' it. I can't really add to what you just said about it being mesmerizing...it is indeed.

What makes it special is that it renews interest in the band that most of us had developed back when we were teenagers. I had the same kind of feeling 10 years ago with Page/Plant, but it's much more genuine now with JPJ and Jason, and more unexpected because Jimmy's been MIA for 7 years.

Okay, so here I go...56 year old dude, got to see my fav-O-right band many times (still have faded ticket stubs $3.75 LA Forum), couple guitar picks, can't stop watching the O2 vids, have all albums (some boots too) vinyl, cassetts, 8-track, and CD's, an iPod full too. 1/2 my kids are into Zep too, was hoping to share the experience w/my 22 year old - would have been very cool. The Zep is older, so are my ears, the brain still works and I still can't get enough of 'em...this is my support group, crappin'rainbows in the brain et al [did that the tailend of the 60's] glad to know its still going on....If I can get 'em to play in my back yard you're all invited! - Later

I'm totally with ya too. I'm 40 and can't get this band out of my head. No one around me understands which is why I love these forums! You are definitely not alone, that's for sure! But, in my own head, I'm having such a good time! I feel like I've run into an old flame... feels like I'm a kid again and I love it! I don't care if people don't understand.. the hell with them!! I'm a Zepaholic and always will be.. I don't want a cure!! :D

rock on dude! I too am of the 8 track era.... remembered hating them because they would mess up the original album order and (of course it was Zep) split up that 40 min D&C SRTS cut....
