I tend to identify with a sort of Native American look on spiritual things butIt is hard to really have any affinity for Crowley for me ... Not on doctrinal grounds but he said and did some things that are pretty questionable and yes I have read his stuff myself I think Jimmy may have taken the very best of Thelema and made it work for him. Women copulating with goats and such does not really bolster his spiritual claims for me but there is no doubt the press went wild with all this and Hammer bio did not help. I have talked to people that have hung a bit with Robert for real and he is not an "evil" guy or into this stuff. I suspect Jimmy is not actively pursuing Crowley's darker interests either. When Manson follower Lynette Fromme tried to contact Jimmy he had the letter burned unopened. Thelema may not be my cup of tea but sad the press gets a hold of this and convinces people every word they hear is true. It is amazing to me how down to earth and accessible Jimmy and Robert seem to be compared to other rock legends When i saw Robert in Sept in NYC he seem to be having the time of his life and frequently talked to the crowd...A few years ago I saw McCartney 2 nites in a row and ...well his banter was exactly the same in the same places. It was like watching a rerun. No offense to his fans but when my wife who never like LZ is dancing and clapping to whole Lotta Love it is a mighty accomplishment...she told me afterwards it was one of the best shows she has ever seen and she used to see a lot of bands a few years back. andafter seeing BOJ in 2011 even agreed to go to the 07 concert theater showing with me... OT again i ignore those sites...these same looney tunes are probably the ones who picket soldier's funerals as a statement of how "evil Gay America" is(Yeah I don't get it either) and how "we deserve to lose our people." Once they've gone down that particular rabbit hole it's virtually impossible to reason with them, and if you do you'll probably be accused of being in with the 'conspiracy'. The Russian Orthodox Church, for all intent and purpose, is running the show in Russia with Putin as their political mouthpiece. Putin is no puppet per se, he in fact the church's biggest champion thus the crackdown on homosexuality and other "offenses" against Orthodox thought. It is just a natural extension that it would be a popular position in Russia now to call these musicians evil and satanic if their lyrics run counter to Orthodox dogma. Stop searching the net for the stuff or trying to argue for reason. We all have aspects of our lives where if we searched the internet for haters we would find them. Just be glad Freeyyaa that you are more open minded than many of your countrymen, and keep it to yourself. It is within the nature of these people that it is impossible to reason with them, or persuade them to a different view. Sometimes we have to accept that in life and disregard certain people accordingly. Even if at times they form the vast majority. I will just add that when you meet these people and discuss their belief structure, you will see much of it is fear driven. There are those that fear and there are those that use fear to control others. You need not be part of that. If anything, current pop singers and such are satanic, as their lyrics have obvious wicked meanings,but at least some LZ songs have good meanings as far as my poetic side can tell. I kind of combine Celtic and native American beliefs with some Christian belief. I am guessing that Whether u believe Jesus was a man or divine or even a myth he would be appalled at the hatred and intolerance in his "churches" Jimmy was eccentric no doubt but ishe eating babies secretly or practicing something evil I would bet against it. As for the Zep years just about every celebrity in the 70's overindulged in hedonism... Unfortunately people that call themselves Christians end up being close minded and often hurting people in the name of someone who preached love.my last post on this but if u discover how to sing backwards and frontwards simultaneously please enlighten me.
