Sticks of Fire
Not sure if this topic has been covered before. The La Drone recording which was used on 1972 USA tour - does anyone else think it sounds like it was used as the underlying drone for the beginning of In The Light? It sure sounds like it. I wonder if Page still has that recoding (no matter how simple it is).
ZeppMan93
It was probably an inspiration for the sound effects at the beginning of the In the Light, but from what I've read it was recorded by JPJ and Jimmy for the 72 tour, so they might have picked that idea up when they were recording In the Light which was in Jan- Feb 1974. Now that you mention it though, it kind of does, the first 5 or 10 seconds of it before the keyboard/synth stuff kicks in.
zepscoda
I believe Jimmy achieved the drone sound for In The Light, by bowing an acoustic guitar. Not sure of the tunning.
kirchzep27
I thought the same thing as the op at times listening to the beginning of htww. Also, think im hearing drone/ambient stuff on the instrumentals on comp discs, almost tones that are a sub background to the vocals sometimes.
