in_the_evening
I was driving home a few days ago, and this great (in my mind) tune came on the radio. I thought "I've got to download this song" and the DJ said who it was and I promptly forgot it.... so here's what I have to go on The band is composed of two words. I believe one of the words is Gun, so Gun House and House Gun would both be logical choices. I could be wrong about Gun, but ONE of the words DEFINITELY started with the letter G. Male singer. Driving tune, probably from the 80s. One line starts with "and the cops"...I don't remember the rest of it I think in the chorus he is saying "Justine, Hey Justine, Justine" Anyone help me out here? once someone says the bands name, it will click in this noggin of mine! Glyn
"Justine, Hey Justine, Justine" maybe " jealousy, hey jealousy" Edit: Includes the "And let the cops " line, and Gin is close to Gun

Sathington Willoughby
Google is amazing. I agree, it's a pretty good song (that I've never heard). Haha, I have no idea how you Googled that from the clues he gave! Well played! I was fixated on House for some reason lol. Plus the 80's. And 'Don't Dream' and 'Justine' sound similar, right? Anyone...? Seriously, you've never heard it before? That's 90's alternative stuff is what I grew up on. 'Found Out About You' is another good one. Glyn
My childhood was filled with KISS and 70s/80s metal, so, no I googled the two lines that in_the_evening gave and Yahoo answers had someone asking basically the same thing, seems to be a common thing. We'll see what he says, though.

Stryder1978
Maybe you sleuths can help me. While I was traveling through Europe, there was a pop song playing in nearly every restaurant and shop I went into. No DJ ever gave the name of the song or the artist and it's been killing me for years to know what it was: It was very popular in Europe in 1987/88. VERY pop song Female singer The chorus was : "Oh, Oh, Oh...everythjing (anthing?) you wanted. Oh, oh, oh...everything I need." Anybody have any ideas? Kiwi_Zep_Fan87
Wowee!!!!!! Very interesting thread! Hello Stryder1978! Maybe the song you're referring to is this one here, by "The Bangles"? Do let me know! I am very interested to see what the others come up with!
Stryder1978
Hi Kiwi_Zep_Fan87, I'm not allowed speakers at my job, but I will check it out when I get home this afternoon. I think you might be right - the song in my head, DEFINITELY sounds like it could be from the Bangles! Thank you in advance for your help, I'll let you know if that is the song I heard way back when! The lyrics that Stryder posted immediately made me think of that song! Besides, growing up, I was obsessed with the music of "The Bangles". I still love them but other bands have since caught my fancy. I have a few songs from the 1980's that my mom has recorded from the radio onto cassette tape but which sadly have nothing but the name of the song itself! I'm just itching to have them ID'd! In spite of having the name, I tried google and nothing very useful showed up! Looks like this thread is going to come in handy!
Stryder1978
Kiwi-Zep-Fan87, OH MY GOD - THAT'S IT!!! Thank you so much for solving a riddle that has plagued me for over 20 years! I worked on a remote military base back then, so we didn't get MTV (when they used to play music videos) and the only radio stations we got were Armed Forces Services, so I was pretty much out of the music scene from 87-91. I thought maybe it was a European band that played that song since I have never heard it played in the States, but it was ll over Europe at the time. Thank you so much - I owe you one! Kiwi_Zep_Fan87
^^^Oh my gosh, Stryder! You are very welcome! I am really glad that I could help you solve a 20 year old riddle! I was pretty addicted to the music of "The Bangles" as a kid and I do know their catalogue pretty well and I'm glad that came in handy! Must have been hard without having much access to music for such a long time! Hats off to you for surviving that!
