2015 POTTEDPLANT MEMORIAL NFL POOL

Yes, it's that time again...and because certain degenerates (you know who you are :P) can't wait a few weeks to put bets down, I might as well kick the weekly pick 'em contest off right now.

As I did last year, I will keep Bret "pottedplant" as the Forum's NFL pool namesake. In case anyone has forgotten, jb126 won the pool last year.

Since we have been doing this for a few years now, I shouldn't have to explain the rules. But for those newcomers to the Forum, it's pretty simple...

1. I will post each week's schedule of games in a timely manner. You simply pick which team will win each particular game that week.

2. No need to worry about point spreads or odds. Whichever team wins is all that matters...whether they win by one point or twenty,as long as the team you chose won the game it counts as a win for you.

3. A game ending in a tie after overtime goes down as a tie for you...not a win or a loss.

4. All picks for the week must be posted on this thread before that week's games kickoff. For the Thursday games, that game's pick must be posted before game time Thursday. If you want to post all that week's picks on Thursday you can, but it's not mandatory. If you would rather wait until Friday or Saturday to post your picks for the Sunday and Monday games, that's fine.

5. You can change your pick for any game as many times as you want in the days leading up to the game. But whatever your pick is once the Sunday games commence (or Thursday if it's a Thursday game), that pick is set in stone.

6. If you can't get your picks posted in time, due to internet/computer troubles or work/family/life issues, you can ask another person to submit your picks for you. Just have someone give me a heads up...either yourself or the person posting your picks.

7. I will do my best to post each week's tally and the weekly winner in a timely manner...by Tuesday morning after the completion of the Monday Night Game. Starting with the second week, there will be a weekly tally and season-to-date tally ranking the totals for every contestant.

8. If you miss the first week, you can still join in the following week. Same as if you miss a week during the season...just pick up where you left off.

I will be back with the schedule for Week 1.

^^^Thanks PC.

That's right, people...the season starts THIS WEEK! First game is on Thursday, as a matter of fact, so if you are playing get your picks in on time. @New England      -7          Pittsburgh

Green Bay             -6.5       @Chicago

@Houston              -1           Kansas City

Carolina             -3.5      @Jacksonville

Thanks Paul.  Here are my picks for week one:  ( I assume just to win and not vs the spread?)

Pittsburgh

Cleveland

Buffalo   (control Luck like we did Rogers, and run all over them)

Green Bay

Houston

St Louis    (upset special-should be an improved unit and may catch them off guard)

Miami

Carolina

Detroit  ( a complete toss up and I will take Stafford to move forward)

Arizona

Cincy

Tampa

Baltimore   (love this one)

NY Giants

Atlanta  (Eagles will be plenty good, but it may take a few weeks for them to be at their best)

Minnesota  (SF will be lucky to win 6 games)

Yes, it is just picking the team to win, no point spreads involved. The same way we have been doing it for years. I only posted the opening-week spreads just to give people who don't follow football 24/7 a rough idea of who Las Vegas favours.

Preseason is exhibition time. We won't really know anything about a team's ability until they play the real games this week.

(SF will be lucky to win 6 games)

So will Buffalo. :P

Ahhhh, the Angels suck and the Lakers sucking will begin in another couple months, so thank goodness for the pleasant distraction of the NFL. Let my pick-sucking commence.

New England - Of course.

NY Jets - I can't believe I just picked the J-E-T-S...but Cleveland is another stumblebum team that can't seem to get out of its way...guess I will take the home team.

Indianapolis - So let me get this straight, Rick...Buffalo is trying to win in the NFL without a QB? Who is this guy?

Green Bay - Chicago is another team I have no idea about.

Houston - The Kansas City Stiffs are one of those teams I hope lose every game.

St. Louis - Nothing more than an upset hunch..all this contract and holdout stuff may have the Seahawks distracted.

Miami - Why can't the Dolphins be the second-best team in the AFC East? The Taters are just sad from top to bottom.

Carolina - Another dog of a game between two shite teams...Jags should have been snuffed out of existence years ago. Over/under on attendance is 40,000.

San Diego - I was going to take Detroit but it's 100 degrees out here and I think Detroit will melt on the road.

New Orleans - For Brett Godwin. Miss you pottedplant.

Oakland - Well, after last year's disaster, the Raiders can only go up...right? :smiley_pray:

Tennessee - Flipped a coin...could not care less about this game.

Denver - It pains me to choose the Broncos but they are usually pretty good in home openers.

Dallas - Lot of pressure on Cowboys to step up this year.

Atlanta - Is Philly for real? I still don't trust them and Sadlanta is at home in the Dome.

San Francisco - Adversity can sometimes inspire a team...besides, I want to see this New Zealand cat Jarryd Hayne succeed.
