So, how does one go about posting youtube videos now? I tried putting in the whole url & it didn't work....

Paste the "share" link from Youtube and it should automatically load the video window:

Where has the new content button gone, that is the way I have viewed the forum for a long time now. I liked viewing forum content as it rolled the "new" unread content button is not the same thing.  I know the forum has been ever evolving over the past eight years but this is one change I don't like.

Those are changes in the software (not much I can do).

Areas such as View New Content, My Content, My Followed Content, Status page and so on are replaced by the new customizable Activity Streams. Filters include:

    Unread content
    Ownership
        Content I posted in
        Content I started
Content by specific members (user can create a list)
    Content I follow
        Areas I follow
        Specific content I follow
        Posted by members I follow
     Time Period
        Any time
        Since my last visit
        Specified number of days
        Specific date range

This Activity link shows all recent content:

JTM, I also liked the previous view of activity.  Using Sam's instructions above, you can set up a custom activity stream, and the nice part is that if you click the checkmark next to the activity stream name, it will become your default view.  That's a nice feature that gets me back to the view that I prefer. :)

When I go to the Random Thoughts thread it takes a few minutes to load and then a message appears at the bottom of the page to click on a link for the latest post(s) or page.

I click on it and nothing happens except it returns to the previous page / post? It has happened on other threads but mostly this one even before the upgrade with the only difference being when I clicked on it the newer posts were added.

Same thing was happening to me, Reggie. So I posted a ? just to see if that helped. It did! :)

Hi Sam,

How do we insert a specific smiley? I know that there was a list of smilies before, but that list seems to have disappeared.

It's the sixth icon on the right, the one that looks like a chain or something. Here, I'll circle it in red in this pic. :D

You should have the emoticon smiley button:

Hi Sam and Sath

Thank you for your help.

Apparently, the forum software works differently for different browsers.

I use two browsers : Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

The Smiley Icon appears as it should, when I use Microsoft Edge (I am using this browser right now to reply to both of you). Here is a screenshot:

On the other hand, when I use Google Chrome, the smiley icon disappears and in its place, is a weird cog shaped icon

Agreed.  These new changes are awful, yet I will get used to them.  For now, a closer look to the "New Content" we loved, is to go to Unread Content.  Then just under RSS, you will see two little icons.  Click the one on the right, it is a condensed view.  Not perfect, but it is a little better IMHO.

Thank you for pointing out the condensed view button!  That's helpful.  I do agree that I'm not liking the new format, but will have to get used to it.

Is it just me or has the forum been slow the past few days? Every time I click 'Unread Content' or try to open a new thread, it takes like 10-30 seconds. Feels like I'm on dial-up or something. :wall::computertrash:

I'm not seeing any issues

Oh ok, glad it's not just me! Thanks ebk.  :)

I too had some trouble with loading the forums page just last week, Sath. Sometimes I've had to wait for 5 to 10 minutes, after entering forums.ledzeppelin.com as the URL in my browser. Sometimes, while the main page used to load pretty quickly, it was the access to forum sub-sections like the Ramble On section that used to take forever and I had to keep refreshing the damn page, so many times!

It really used to annoy me but I used to tell myself, that if I could survive with dial-up internet speed in the 90's, I can pretty much survive with anything! Ah, to be a kid of the 90's!

Yea, that's the same thing that happening to me! :(

Yes, I remember the dial up days well. Nothing much you could do efficiently besides use instant messenger and e-mail, lol. The nostalgia...

^^^Ah, yes! The quirky sounds of the modem (sounded so similar to the sounds emanated by a fax machine!), dialing a very interesting looking telephone number to connect to the internet and me, jumping up and down in absolute glee, whenever I received the connection established! notification on my desktop PC!
