For 69 laps I thought he'd won it, then relief turned to horror on lap 70 when I thought he'd blown it, and then thankfully on the last lap the heavens opened a bit, which worked badly against Glock and his slick tyres, and gave Lewis a get out of jail freebie. I'm still half-expecting some post-race stewards enquiry to swindle him (AGAIN !) on a technicality of being too dark-skinned, or a half-inch too short, or something equally ridiculous - it's the twisted cynical way the sport has become. Hi Zeppy, My thoughts as well, the world just cant stand for a White Middleclass Englishman to win anything can they? Did you know that, 1. Hamilton is the Formular 1 Champion=English 2. McLaren Racing Cars=English 3. Ferrari Leading Engineers=English So we won all three, Driver, Car and Engineers, what a brilliant little country we are, Hamilton can take his place up there with all the greats, RP, JP, JPJ, and JB RIP, et all. I am trying to get back in her good graces, but this post may really blow it for all I know. Liverpool is my favorite team and favorite city. I am still learning the game, people still have to explain some of the rules to me, but I caught on to quite a bit living over there. I miss the whole pub atmosphere during the big matches. I do get to see some of the matches here in Tennessee on the Soccer network and I try to watch for Liverpool FC. I also miss Marks and Sparks food hall, especially Simply Red, Tesco strawberry yogurt and being able to go ANYWHERE by train. The smoothies are better over there as well. I've lived in Liverpool all of my life and I'm a fanatical Liverpool supporter - I went to my first game in 1967 and have been a regular ever since. I mean, you have the best bands and some of the greatest musicians in post-war times, so fuck your lousy football team and be proud of the great music you make. I used to stand on the Kop right between the two central posts about a third of the way up but slightly to the right of centre (looking at the pitch) . Since I moved around and now live where I do, I can hardly go to games anymore. Plus, I can't afford it. Mind you, truth be told, I've never been a fan of seated stadiums. I loved football and Liverpool captured my imagination. Great players and great times. My love affair with the beautiful game fizzled out as new interests took over..ie, boys (great way to impress though...talk football!) but I look back on those glory days with much affection. Maybe I am being too sentimental and nostalgic, but it just doesn't seem the same nowadays...too much money involved now. It's all very commercialised. Although, of course, I am so pleased that Hull AFC are doing so well. Here is one of my favourite ever moments from my Liverpool FC supporting years... He wasn't going to teach you "life skills" because if you didn't already have that, you weren't playing for him.
