Yeah nobody in England refers to them as 'Manchester'. The two Manchester teams are refered to as either Man United or Man City, usually abbreviated to either 'Utd' or 'City'.

Of course, in Liverpool they are refered to as 'Manc gobshites who have only won 3 European Cups'. :D

Hey Magani!! Have not seen you much? Are you still on the Isle of Wigt or are you traveling. Do forgive if I mispelled it but I know where it is and that's what counts. Heavily sedated after my recent surgery so my typing is a bit off. Anyway, I was wondering why I have not seen you much since the World Cup. I wanted to watch that game, one member was kind enough to post a youtube video. That spanish announcer is unequaled. Dont know his name but watch some of the soccer on the spanish network. He is now on Geico commercials with his famous goooooooooooal calls. It proves that the English league is far superior to the MLS and we are not getting a good product here in the US. So how is soccer ever going to grow here? I would like to see more matches. I wish i could see some of the English league matches as I know stars all over the world play there. The money there must be better than in the spanish and south american leagues? But Im just a stupid american that likes the game but am only able to see good soccer once every four years when the world cup comes along. cant wait for Brazil. How about those dambed French? Dumping the whole squad. Knee jerk reaction. And how the hell does Maradonna get such a vote of confidence.

Hi Silvermedalist,

Been busy lately (thanks for asking). I've been doing a lot of painting and decorating. Yes, still here on the Isle of Wight. No plans to do any travelling from now on. Well, except for the odd holiday.

Didn't know you had surgery. I hope you are ok.

Right now I'm forgetting about international football and concentrating on the club game (the bread and butter) again. I'm sure you can catch more English club games in certain pubs there, no? From what I hear they seem to be shown in lots of places. You just have to know which ones.

Mostly baseball here. And when your team has not won in 27 years you kind of lose interest. lol. Especially with a sport that puts one to sleep anyway. Got to watch the pitcher wipe his brow, grease the ball, look over his shoulder at the hot blonde sitting in the nosebleeds, and then he finally throws the fuckiing ball wide as the batter looks on wondering when he will put one over the plate. SUCKS. Hockey rules!!!! Love Hockey more than any game. Like the NFL when I dont have to watch the zebras do their imitation of the wizard of oz behind the curtain. And it takes them forever to make up their damn minds on a somple decision that most of the watching millions already know what the outcome should rightfully be. Refs are taking over the game and the commisioner is letting them. Pete Rozelle never would have allowed such shananagans. Hope all is well on the Isle. How is the fishing there by the way? What do you catch there? Ill check back later.

I don't care either………………I really don’t!

Thought you might like to read this letter to the editor of a British national newspaper. Ever notice how some people just seem to know how to write a letter?

Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister! Written by a housewife, to her daily newspaper, this is one ticked off lady.

'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July 2002, and in New York Sept 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since?

Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day in London, and in downtown Manhattan, and in a field in Pennsylvania?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11 and 7/7.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank: I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner - who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and 'fed special food' that is paid for by my taxes – is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, believe me!! You guessed it ......I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add: 'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. Our soldiers don't have that problem.'

I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you forward all this.

Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ

2. The British Soldier.

3. The Canadian Soldier.

4. The US Soldier, and

5. The Australian Soldier

One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THEM.

AMEN!

Until WE all start caring about what OUR GOVERNMENTS do in those PEOPLES COUNTRIES then TERRORISM is the only way that they know that WE will take notice of the INJUSTICES that WE heap upon THEM.

There is always the other sides story, its not just ONE WAY as far as INJUSTICES go, until WE in the West understand that, then the body bags will continue to fly home.

Regards, Danny

And not their own people?

Why bother,.....

When I was in England in July, a pint was around £3 or something. I was out in the countryside, in London it's probably more. A bottle of Cornish Rattler hard cider was £3.90 and worth every pence! I wish they sold it in America. That, and Tregroes waffles, sticky toffee pudding and homity pie. :)

And now for something completely different. Another amazing story of a bloke or blokette with a metal detector finding a stunning ancient artefact: A metal detector enthusiast in Cumbria has discovered a rare Roman bronze helmet complete with face-mask http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-11287093
