sam_webmaster
A set of new photos from a fan at the Pontiac Silverdome April 30, 1977 (most of these shared here for the first time). There's some interesting pics, including an awesome rear-stage photograph of the whole stadium before the show and a couple of teasers showing the video camera in front of the stage.... http://www.ledzeppelin.com/show/april-30-1977

76229
Fantastic! The first image especially is a brilliant panorama: I always wondered whether people sitting in the seats behind the band (same as at Kezar stadium in '73) were happy with their view! Still, shit, if I had a time machine I'd take watching the gig from anywhere, even on top of the lighting rig...
badgeholder
Pretty good pics for a fan, he had a nice camera and zoom lens. Not to mention a close vantage point. Great shots. Amazing what continues to pop up after all these years. And, yeah, VIDEO PLEASE!

JohnOsbourne
I'm no fan of '77, but I have to admit, these are very cool pics, thanks for posting.
EaglesOfOneNest
Wow, thanks for sharing! Wonderful pics... didn't this show break attendance records? Saw some photos a few years ago of the Silverdome - it's abandoned and derelict. Sad to see a venue that hosted the GREATEST left to ruin... there must be some pretty strong energy still floating around there though!
EaglesOfOneNest
Gosh, I just saw they closed with Trampled Underfoot, that must have been AMAZING!
cosmic_juice
And another pic showing the Opryland camera... The footage has to be out there. I think ive said this before... But im just going to live the rest of my days under the delusion it exists... It makes me feel better

ledded1
Good to see, I like the behind the stage one to give a feel for the size of the place.
Bong-Man
When it comes to '77 shows, people always hate the omission of D & C from the set-list. Those people should be reminded that we were treated to an acoustic set for the first time in America since '72. After all the pushing & shoving, I still remember many of the main floor crowd sitting down indian-style at Robert's command when the set began. "Black Country Woman" was great ! Read in the paper where they are going to have an open-house at the Silverdome for anyone that wants to check the place out one last time before demolition. In the memory of Led Zeppelin, The Who, Bob Seger, Pink Floyd, The Stones, Barry Sanders, and two High School Proms, I might have to take them up on that invitation. johnlennon696
Love that picture. What a crowd and view. All those people and we only have one AUD recording from this show is think. I know the pro shot video is supposedly out there somewhere though.
Strider
What a nice treat for the tenth anniversary of the forum and the 40th anniversary of the Pontiac show. Incredible quality considering how long they have been stashed away. Makes you wonder what else is out there waiting to be rediscovered.

gibsonfan159
I don't think I've ever seen Jones playing that Ovation 12 string before.

He played it on the fist leg of the tour. He received the Manson triple neck right before the second leg. I personally preferred the Ovation, it had a better tone IMO. bishlap
Wonder what the Band remembers about this show(s), if anything(sarcasm). Anyway, wonderful capture of a great bygone era.
