The newer digital formats

Recommended Posts

I for one, would hope that the Led Zeppelin catalog would be considered for SACD or DVD audio release....utilizing a digital format that has FINALLY taken the technology out of the dark ages. STILL, to this day, the best way to listen to LZ (and most other bands) is on a clean vinyl record with a good cartridge. (The difference between an "average" cartridge/stylus and a more advanaced {pricey} set up is astounding)

Mothership was a disappointment in that regard. Dear people in the Led Zeppelin camp/Atlantic records offices: Please call Neil Young.

Thank you

The few rock bands I've heard on modern vinyl pressings has been disappointing to me. On the other hand, just about every jazz album I've purchased on vinyl sounds remarkable. Jazz labels seem to go out of their way to make their vinyl LP's extraordinary; 180 to 200 grams, special analogue masters from the digital re-mastering process.........jazz seems to do it right.

You pay dearly for it, but as a jazz lover it's worth it. It's really the only way to listen to the music.

Regards;

I must tell you that in one of life's "I can't believe this has happened to me", I came across TWO boxes of vinyl at a garage sale FULL of original classic jazz albums.....the man gave them to me, knowing they would be in well cared-for hands.

As for Led Zeppelin on 200g vinyl...here you go:

Yeah,

I mentioned this elsewhere on the site. A "newbie" wanted to know where to start. I told him everywhere and anywhere, but vinyl is the way to go.

Digital music being all 1's and 0's a lot of the ambience is lost. Sure it sounds clean. Some of the songs actually have snippets mising as well. If you have not listened to a record in some time put one on. The difference in sound is amazing. Gotta love the vinyl..
