Administrators sam_webmaster Posted November 30, 2017 Administrators Share Posted November 30, 2017 from photographer Robert Ellis: NEW PHOTO BOOK ON LED ZEPPELIN DUE IN FEBRUARY 2018 LED ZEPPELIN - Live Times. Pre-order open NOW [PR] THE ROCK LIBRARY and photographer Robert Ellis announce their latest hard back photo book. Their ninth ... with a twist! This book is 200 large format pages incorporating over 500 images by Robert Ellis in colour and black and white, sitting inside a beautifully hand bound hard back cover and is to be published in February 2018. It is a visual document of eleven shows at eight of their events in the UK. It starts at their first major show in 1969 at the London Royal Albert Hall and spans the bands career up to their final UK event at Knebworth Festival in 1979. Most of the photographs incorporated have not been seen before, (well, they always say that!). The book will only be available to buy from our pre-order page at www.therocklibrary.com. This page is open now, and will close on the last day of January 2018, after which this book will not be available to buy again. The price is £95 UK pounds plus shipping. We ship worldwide. The total price will be automatically converted to your local currency using the prevailing rate at the time of your order. Only orders received via the website www.therocklibrary.com on or before the pre-order closing date will be honoured. PayPal and all major debit and credit cards are accepted via a secured server. Each copy will be signed by the author. A dedication can be added if requested at the time of order. Robert Ellis was working for the leading UK music papers during this time and was privileged to get unprecedented all-show access to the shows on all those tours including three of the iconic five nights at Earls Court in 1975. Robert's photos from this event became the cover story in the following weeks edition of Melody Maker. The Rock Library began publishing hard back rock music books in 2014 and features titles on Genesis, AC/DC, Status Quo, The Who, Iron Maiden and Scorpions. More to come! ---
Mook
I'd love to have a look at it but paying £95 for a book of pictures is way beyond my level of financial decadence.
Stryder1978
....well, I still need to by myself a Christmas present, so I'll consider it. Thanks for the info Sam!
LZ77
Thanks for the info Sam. Wish we could see a preview of some of the images. More importantly, how much is 1977 represented?

LZ77
^ Ok. I missed that. Thanks for the heads up!
Cookie0024
Did they design the book cover on Microsoft Word?
SymphonyX
Looks pretty cool, anything new is good news. This money first pre-order seems a bit sketchy and cloudy. Is this really considered a crowd funding project ? By X date the doors close and you can't purchase anymore defeats the whole purpose of using the term Pre-Order. On Amazon, Pre-Order the door does not close on you and can still purchase when it's released.

babysquid
If they wanted me to blindly fork out the best part of £100 for a book of pictures, the front cover needs to be indicative of the material within. This looks like a the sort of cheap “unofficial” shit you find in discount book stores and market stalls! Definitely not something you would proudly display on your coffee table. And as this is essentially an art piece it’s not advertising itself as a particularly good one! If the front cover is and indication of what’s inside perhaps there is a good reason why most of these photos have never been seen before.

rm2551
Why does that bit with Peter Grant in TSRTS talking about "As long as there's an extra nickel to be made..." come to mind? Surely the best pics from ALL photographers of that era are already available in some way or another (at least 99.9% of them) as that was their bread and butter at that time. 2hungie bucks Australian. sheeeesh..... sixpense
The pics of Jimmy with the t-shirt and scarf look like they are from the May 2 1969 Rose Palace show, where he is still using the Dragon Fender Telecaster (last legs) and incorporating the Gibson Les Paul more. babysquid
Yes some of those pics look really great which makes it even more of a shame that they couldn’t have pulled out something less hideous for the cover.
