Sir George Martin vs Peter Grant

Recommended Posts

Both were considered the fifth member of The Beatles/Led Zeppelin.

Which band went to greater fortune between the two.

Could we play with History.  If  GM hooked up with Zep I wonder how they would sound.  What about PG managing Zep.  I know both GM and PG did different things with their groups.

As Mr Jones put it.. apples and oranges

If you’re talking most valuable as a “fifth member” musically, It’s Sir George Martin without question. Peter Grant had a hands off aproach towards the music. He had complete faith in the band, especially Jimmy to deliver the goods musically.

Brian Epstein to Peter Grant would be a better comparison.  They were both exceptional Managers.

It's an apples to oranges comparison.

George Martin was many things but he wasn't The Beatles manager.

Peter Grant was many things but he was not Led Zeppelin's producer, arranger, composer, conductor or audio engineer.

I agree - no comparison between these two as they worked in different capacities.
