rm2551 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Behind Bonzo and JPJ sits which legendary rythm section? I nominate who ever this is. Anyone know? Especially from around 1:38 on, but leading into that. Quote
John M Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Depends on what type of music you like but here are a few good ones. Bootsy Collins and John Stark Robert "Kool" Bell (bass) and George Brown (drums) Quote
IpMan Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Kenny Aronoff & Toby Myers from John Mellencamp's band are criminally underrated, a truly great duo. Of course there is Lee & Peart, and one of the best, most swinging was Black & Fontana who backed Elvis. Flea & Smith and of course Collins & Brailey from P-Funk. Edit: How can I forget Rainey & Purdie from Steely Dan Quote

James Jamerson on bass, Benny Benjamin on drums. Stax also had a crack rhythm section...Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass, Al Jackson, Jr. on drums. Quote
TheMadIrishman Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 I feel Black Sabbath’s rhythm section is left out here. Watch Snowblind live and just see the pure raw connection between Geezer Butler and Bill ward, their absolute animals when they perform Quote

chef free Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Yeah, Rush, for sure. Deacon and Taylor of Queen are terminally underrated... Baker and Bruce were pretty damn good too. Always love the Allman Brothers with original bass player Barry Oakley Quote
Stryder1978 Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 My vote goes to Glenn Hughes/Ian Pace: Quote
paul carruthers Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Rush and STP for me--maybe I'll add Dio when I listen to more of his albums.... Quote

If you like them then you should seriously buy Aretha Franklin live at The Fillmore West album, that's where that footage is from (amazing album). I would also recommend her LP, Young Gifted & Black which features Purdie quite prominently. Quote

I am from a very "mainstream" background musically. Listening to Alice Cooper has really opened my eyes. There is SOUCH to get into.... I'll keep an eye out for those ones. Cheers. Quote
