TheMadIrishman Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 In this newest of Battles we have a competition between the master of head thrashing, Mr. Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath and the God of Thunder, Gene Simons from KISS. In an all out battle, who would win? Quote
John M Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Gene Simmons is a joke and not the least bit worthy to be on a list with the great Geezer Butler. Quote
Strider Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 This is the worst one yet...the nadir of these "battle" threads. Gene Simmons is a scab on the arse of rock 'n' roll. Quote
IpMan Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Is this for real? Sid Viscous played bass better than Simmons...and actually still does. Gene is perhaps the worse bass player in history. There are six year old kids picking up a bass for the first time laying down a better grove than Gene could on his best day. Talk about a fucking tosser! Quote
EaglesOfOneNest Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I don't know how to play bass and I play it better than Gene Simmons. How is this even a question?! Quote
TheMadIrishman Posted August 27, 2018 Author Posted August 27, 2018 Man you people are hard asses Quote
Stryder1978 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Despite the skill it must take to play bass and sing while prancing around on stage in seven inch leather heels, this one is a no brainer....... Quote
TheStairwayRemainsTheSame Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 People bashing on Gene obviously don't know much about him as a player, more just the name. Sad. Gene, all day Quote

Gene, all day Yeah, such a great musician he used Neil Jason on his own solo album for all of the bass parts. The guy is a joke. A very rich joke but a joke. Sad. Quote
the chase Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Gene Simmons is a good Bass player and singer, a good and at times great songwriter and an excellent onstage performer, entertainer. Geezer Butler is one of the greatest Metal Bassist's ever and a brilliant lyricist. For Bass alone, Geezer Butler no question.. Quote

Sid was described by Rotten as 'quite possibly the most talentless, useless individual in history', but there's two Sid & bass yarns that make it worthwhile: Rotten's sarcastic line about Sid deciding to teach himself bass by staying up all night with Can's Tago Mago 'cos he thought he could master that in an evening'! And Rotten's quip after Sid had whacked the redneck over the head with the bass in San Antonio: 'Oh dear, Sidney's guitar appears to have slipped...' Classics, both. You will not get any argument from me regarding the bold above as he wrote some damn fine, catchy tunes and is one hell of an entertainer. His vocal on Calling Dr. Love is one of my favorites, that and Cold Gin, ballsy as hell. Quote
JohnOsbourne Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Hilarious comments on this thread. Although Simmons isn't as bad as some say, it's easily Butler. Quote
Ross62 Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Chaim Weitz's life was mapped out for him early on and as you can see he always had the tongue and the oversized head. Geezer. Quote
Brigante Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 I've only heard two Kiss songs - and one of those was a cover. I serious on u ass! Quote
