The Super Bowl Thread

Since the Super Bowl encompasses more than football and attracts the casual fan who may not want to wade through out regular NFL thread, here is a thread for everyone to chat about the Super Bowl and comment on the shenanigans of Super Sunday.

Bitch about which commercials suck, laugh at the lameness of the Maroon 5 halftime show, predict how long the National Anthem will run and if Gladys Knight will flub the words. Talk about what the food at your Super Bowl party is like, mention any prop bets you have placed on the game, drink a shot of whiskey every time Tony Romo correctly predicts a play.

And of course, comment on what is happening in the game...Who is impressing you, are the refs calling the game loose or tight, which coach is winning the chess match.

We are a few hours away from kickoff...and I gotta run and get more ice. Happy Super Sunday!

I see a lot more New England fans than Los Angeles fans so far. Not surprising considering Atlanta is closer to New England than Los Angeles. It appears to be Foxboro South.

But I am seeing more of the analysts and "experts" picking the Rams to win. Not just the professional Patriot-haters, either. It seems to come down to two things...Gurley and Anderson running the ball and keeping Tom Brady off the field and Darnold and Suh getting to Brady when he is on the field and disrupting the offense of the Patriots.

I am already sick of these Geico ads.

The missus and I stayed in a friendly Mississippi casino last week.

I took under 28 pts. first half.
Parlay - under 28 first half, LA +1/2 pt. first half.
I probably won't start watching coverage until 4:30 or so CST.

Watched a great Foo Fighters set last night  from the ATL.

Lots of Pats fans at the game.

Love downtown Atlanta.

Flipping between nfl network and cbs. Heading up to the Lakehouse for a neighborhood party shortly.

Rooting for....

Most of you know that I am  a diehard Saint Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, but I am also a Saint Louis Rams fan.  I lived in Saint Louis when the Rams won the Super Bowl In 1999.  I despise the NE Patriots so I hope that the Los Angeles Rams blow away the Patriots.

That's a good bet. In Brady/Belichick's 8 previous Super Bowls they have scored a grand total of 3 points in the first quarter. Historically, New England starts slow in the Super Bowl.

Tony Romo looked very metrosexual in his interview with Tom Brady.

Brady chewed up a lot of clock on the opening drive against KC. I hope nerves play in my favor, and no team lights it up until the second half.

Your under is looking good, jabe.

Terrible ads so far. Only the Jason Bateman elevator man one was amusing. The rest have ranged from unmemorable to awful.

I can live with one out of two.
My wife has LA +2-1/2 for the game.

Either way, a return trip to Mississippi is in the cards.

The halftime shows are getting more and more canned and fake. Adam Levine looks like a clown with all those tatts.

Taking a vegetable break in between the meat courses. Baked yams. And more beer, natch.

I suppose I should be glad I've only been able to watch in fits and starts because what I've seen - game and commercials - have been less than adequate.

Some may complain about the lack of points but I am enjoying the defensive chess match between the defensive and offensive coordinators.
