I smell a rat. There is no way that the Pittsburgh Steelers would have traded Antonio Brown to New England. So Antonio Brown and his agent Drew Rosenhaus orchestrate this crazy charade in Oakland and, voilà!, Antonio Brown gets to go to the Patriots.

Where he joins that other headcase, Josh Brown. This could be genius on New England's part...Brady hasn't had talent at wide receiver like this since Randy Moss. They went 16-0 that season.

Or it could blow up in their faces. Has Belichick's ego bitten off more than it can chew? You almost feel like Belichick is trolling the Steelers and the Raiders... "I'll take your worst fuck-up and coach him into a Super Bowl champion". If he does this, Mike Tomlin and Jon Gruden will look foolish and powerless. Tomlin let Bell and Brown go with almost no compensation. Gruden has done even worse...he sent K. Mack and Amari Cooper packing and enabled the AB debacle.

How 'bout them Ravens?!

This will probably be the only week I get to say that.

They are always formidable on D.  Miami is likely pretty bad, I expected Fitz to fair a little better but I expected an easy win for the Ravens.  The Browns were one of the bigger disappointments of the day so far.  I want the Raiders to win on Monday night and of course Pittsburgh to beat NE.  Even though I hate them both.  The Bills stay in the Meadowlands to play the Giants in the same stadium.  Barclay is the biggest worry as he is a beast.  But the Bills defense is very good

Watching Detroit choke away a 24-6 lead in the fourth quarter has been an absolute horror-show. Or comic relief. It all depends on your perspective.

It all starts with Detroit play caller Darrell Bevel of course. WTF is he doing in Detroit, anyway? Matt Patricia was on New England's staff when Darrell Bevel panicked in the Super Bowl and cost Seattle the win. He has a history of some of the worst play calls and clock mismanagement in recent NFL history. Why would Patricia want that bozo calling the offense for Detroit?

I could not believe it when I heard it was a tie game.  I thought the Lions had won.    Idiots.  Down 16-0, mainly on horrible luck, a deflected ball run back by the Jets, the Bills never quit.  Their defense was rock solid all day.  When they finally put Singletary in, I can now see why they replaced Shady McCoy.  This kid is good.  And they have not even used Wade from England yet or their supposed top receiver Foster.  Brown did the damage yesterday and Beasley played well too except for the volley ball play that gave the Jets an early TD.  They stay in the Meadowlands to face Barclay and the Giants.

The Rams seemed to have Carolina put away.   Carolina got a late one at "garbage time".  Still, they came East and took care of business.  They open as 3 point favorites vs the Saints for home opener.  A game the Saints must have had circled all winter.  I am expecting the Saints to perhaps be looking ahead a bit to next week for that showdown in LA?  Tonight they play a non conference opponent that they barely know, and Houston is likely making their first trip their as far as I know?  I think the Saints could be taking them lightly?  I certainly fear them next week in a revenge game.  But the Rams are no joke at home.

Is Miami that bad or Baltimore that good?   Time will tell.  Pittsburgh looked horrible last night.  I mean horrible  I am not ready to give NE credit for that.  Pittsburgh looked lost.

Man, I need the Raiders to top off a nice weekend at the Del Lago sports book.  Have them on a parlay with Green Bay and another with Rams and Bills.  I just dont know.  Late game here.  1020 EST kickoff.  Nuts.  Chuckies ass on the line. Biggest disappointment of the weekend.  Cleveland Browns.  Shocking outcome IMO

Only stupid teams look past their season opener, Rick.

The season opener is the one game each team has weeks to prepare for. You want to make a good impression and start the season on a good note. You don't want to look like the Steelers or the Browns.

In the Saints case, looking past Houston would be especially stupid because if you lose your home opener, now you are looking at a road game against the Rams and, suddenly, an 0-2 start is staring you in the face. Which is not the way to go if you are trying to get the #1 seed for the playoffs.

I know it's early but Mike Tomlin, Matt Patricia, and Jon Gruden are coaches on the hot seat. Tomlin is lucky he works for an organization that doesn't fire coaches during the season or else he'd be fired today. That game by the Steelers last night was EMBARRASSING.

Oh and I almost forgot...the biggest laugh I got yesterday was in the Detroit-Arizona game. Right after Arizona had come back and scored 18 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to tie it up at 24-24 with a little time left, announcer Dick Stockton made some laughable statement about Matt Stafford being the "comeback kid" or "captain comeback" and how the Cardinals should be worried. :hysterical:

Dick, nobody and I mean nobody in the NFL fears Matt Stafford. Especially now that walking panic-attack Darrell Bevell is his offensive coordinator.

Because I pay little attention during the offseason, watching the games yesterday was a shock for more than the fact that the Lions actually hired Darrell Bevell to screw up their offense and mismanage their timeouts.

I also discovered that...

Jason Witten had left the tv booth (thank god...he is no Romo) and returned to the Cowbots!

DeSean Jackson was back in Philadelphia!

NDumbass Suh left the NFC Champion Rams to play for decrepit Tampa Bay! :hysterical:

Sammy Watkins left the Rams to go to the Chiefs...which makes more sense than Suh's move.

Michael Bennett is a Patriot!

RGIII is still in the league...backing up Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.

Visiting teams' fans still own the Chargers home field. The cheers sounded louder for Colts touchdowns than for Chargers touchdowns.

God, ESPN MNF sucks.

First they debut this new scoreboard that makes no sense because they use yellow for down-and-distance, confusing viewers into thinking a flag has been thrown on every play.

Second, can't they find one decent announcer? Steve Levy is wearing me out...I had ear-fatigue by the second quarter. I turned the sound down and put on a Sam Spence NFL Films music album. They also need to dump the "three guys in the booth" format. It's too cluttered. Too many voices competing for space and time.

Third, the halftime show is ABYSMAL!  Who were those lame ass rappers? Burn them at the stake. Utter garbage and a waste of time. Man, I miss Howard Cosell showing highlights during halftime on MNF. That's all you should be doing at halftime. Leave the bullshit music for American Idol.

First half of this Oakland-Denver game was surprising to see Raiders look so good. I haven't seen Carr play this well since 2016.

Of course, there is still the second half. And the Raiders still have a problem with stupid penalties at the worst times.

It worked out good Sean.  The Raiders got me my parlays and I am heading to the casino.  Happy your boys won.  I hope they knock off KC at home next week bu that will be mighty tough.  I am with you on Howard Cosell and even Don Meredith and Frank Gifford.  The old Monday night football was what made it.  His talking about Namath, Ali and even OJ.  Al Micheals should be on Monday night football, but he is on Sunday which is the new MNF.  He is of course an understudy of the late Howard Cosell.  Often jokes about him.  Week one in the books and for now, our teams are in first

^^ The demise of Tom Brady, right? I think I'll just clench my teeth & watch the Packers this Sunday...

😣

I would still rather be the Dolphins than the Jets moving forward.  The Jets are not going anywhere this year.  The Dolphins have accumilated 4 number 1 and 4 number 2 draft picks.  That can fix a team pretty fast.  Yes this will be a long year.  But only 1 team will walk away happy.  I do not believe its going to be NE or Antonio Brown

One week in the books and, boy, did that Cleveland Brown bandwagon crash in a hurry.

Snap judgements after week one:

New England, Kansas City, L.A. Rams, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints remain legit Super Bowl contenders.

Baltimore, Seattle, San Diego, Philadelphia might be playoff bound but more evidence needs to be seen from them to convince me they are anything more than first-round losers. I can't take a blowout win over the Dolphins too seriously...that team has given up and is tanking the season.

I believe the Bills will be in the race.  The first 8 games for NE no playoff teams.  What a joke.  But then it gets mighty rough.  i think its too soon to cast judgement on Cleveland or any one team after 1 game.  So lets bury Pittsburgh while we are at it. Cowher has them meeting the Rams in the Super Bowl.   No way is Pittsburgh even winning that division IMO.  This kid Singletary played only in the second half for the Bills for reasons I do not know??  They seemed hell bent to pass early. But he went nuts on them in the 2nd half and now its obvious why they chose this young fast RB over an aging McCoy

The biggest laugh I got this week was thinking of those poor Oakland Coliseum groundsmen that have to convert that field to 1968 division 2 standards every home game.   C'mon Man !  No wonder they're moving !!  :hysterical:

I had to modify my Lion season prediction to 3-12-1.  We tied the first week so you could write those 1s ALL season long !  :)

Antonio Brown has been #metoo'd.

I say they order him to sit after they have the interview with this accuser this week.  Assuming she sounds believable to some degree.

Bills 2-0 and Cincy in for the home opener.  I see a showdown with NE in week 4 with both teams at 3-0.   The Bills have a big shot to make the playoffs.  Either as division winners or WC

Rams beat the Saints, I know Breese went down, but they beat them.  Soundly. NO is not the same away from the dome.  The Rams are tough but Geoff needs to get better.   Josh Allen sure has shown a ton of promise for the Bills

Stephen A Smith makes a good point about all this Dallas crap hype.  They beat Washington and the Giants.  Big deal.  With Breese out, they still say no Super Bowl for Dallas.  Rams are the damn favorites.   Got it?

I think the Lions will be far better than your predicted record.  They have a tie and a win.  Unbeaten.  So I am for believing Green Bay is way over rated and were lucky to escape that game with a win.  They get a soft opponent next week but I am not sold on them.  Green Bay I mean.

The 2008 0-16 Detroit Lions will have some company, I think. Miami looks plumb awful...those Detroit Lions could even beat these Dolphins.

The Lions have a defense.  I watched the highlights on You Tube of their game.  Lots of surprising developments.  Lets see where CB Ramsey from Jacksonvile winds up?  I am hoping the Bills grab him.  That would give them an absolute shut down secondary. With Trevarious White, Micah Hyde and Poyer.  Edmunds at middle linebacker and Hughs and Oliver up front.  Loaded.  Josh Allen is the real deal. Best damn QB since Kelly.  He is some kind of player.  The throws he made in that game, and on the run were magnificent.  The Bills WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.  YOU CAN WRITE IT IN BLOOD. If we lost every contest that is not on the "slam dunk" list, we would still be 9-7.  I say we win 11
