duckman
Acetates have a much softer surface compared to vinyl, haven't they? I don't think noted collector Robert Godwin was very enthousiastic of the acetate medium...Too expensive and after a few spins the grooves wore out. Incherpipstrew
Fortunately he's wrong. Have lots of Acetates or transcription discs and while yes a softer surface is true, grooves wearing out after a few plays is a misconception. Few years now with lots of other friends in groups owning and playing them and no problems.

Are you playing acetate pressings or vinyl pressings? There's a difference. I have an acetate pressing of Jimmy Page's 'Wasting My Time' single from Sterling Sound in New York City, and I've never played it because I don't want to put any wear and tear on it and besides, the song itself is available in digital format.
