Jimmy with beard = best playing. Jimmy w/ cigarette = oh boy

I loved those 1971 early 72 of Jimmy and Robert looking all conservative ( and playing wise too) with sweaters and beards.

It seemed like Jimmy was in such command almost from a collegiate standpoint playing masterfully fluent and conservative. I realize the times,  but it seemed to me that was a poignant point before the excess arrived. There sound became hollowed in 1973 and 1975 a bit live,  until the overloaded volumetric thunder of the 1977 tour. In 1977 whenever  you saw Jimmy with a ciggy , in 1979 to at KW, ( not Copenhagen ), you knew he was escorted to the stage. His playing was downright at times just awful. Like his fingers were sown together , out of tune quite often in 1977, and couldn’t play the easiest guitar solo , one that he composed himself!

Jeez I must be bored in NJ making these early morning observations ....

I think ‘75 Earls Court is some of the best I’ve heard, however I will admit that I need to dig deeper into the early 70’s.

The RAH Bring It On Home with Jimmy with his angel face and little sweater proceeding to blow us away is fantastic. 😁

Just listen to some tapes on the opening SRTS in 1977 and you can hear the double neck out of tune.

Just listening to The Rover intro plenty of times he goes out of tune.

Also during NQ in 1977 it seemed he was off key with Bonham's snare sound and Jonsey keys quite often. It didn’t blend well like in 75 and or course 1973.

I thought the Latter years where not that bad considering what was out in 1976 and 77'

Disco was huge and unforgiving coke-heads made it even weirder. Punk Rock was just coming alive and it was a slap in the face to Zeppelin over indulging in long winded solos at times, but then their was some amazing 1977 shows like Texas, LA Forum, few of the NYC 77' shows, Cleveland in 77' was pretty tight, I think best version of Kashmir was done at that show 4-27-77. Led Zeppelin by 1977 became more of a spectacle   then it was a rock and roll concert. Now look at what we have to see......Yeah not much right, I saw the GNR tour and laughed at how cheese it was watching this overweight blubber ball try to re-live his glory days as a lead singer. Yeah he has a good voice and isn't a dick head anymore, but I would cut my arm off to see Led Zeppelin live in 1977, THE excitement alone would be worth the price of admission.

The only obvious time I've heard Page  badly out of tune is 3/24/75. Or maybe you're just talking about playing out of key? As far as tuning, it wouldn't have been his fault.
